you're exactly right, anneke was hired help and was told what do by devin who I think didn't use her vocals properly, he made her sound very commercial, but i guess that was the idea.. simple accessible music for the masses. her best work will always be the gathering and shows off her true talent. this is just another colabo, one of her multiple colabos and projects.

have you ever read the idea behind the addicted project? i think you haven't if not you would not be saying those things. is not about being commercial, it is about writing easy music, at least for him. they are 2 adults working together this is about something else, not about making profits.

erm...I mean honestly, if Devin let Anneke sing any more on the record than she did...it really wouldn't have even been a Devin Townsend record. He "utilized" her fucking wonderfully, placing her parts incredibly in every song. It's a perfect mix of him and her, and makes the songs so much better.

Clearly he respects her as a musician, and she respects him as a musician, and clearly they're friendly with eachother so....grow the fuck up.

I agree, Devins voice and guitar sound made the original more like a dreamy, beautiful soundscape. Annique's voice makes it sound more like an ode to joy and love :) I love Devins version but this rendition has grown on me a lot.

well i tend to judge on the songs actual composer...Devin Townsend. Dont get me wrong, shes good but his voice suits it better. the song is supposed to be more mellow. Fine, it bored you. But Devin Townsends work is so diverse that im sure you can find something you'll like

agreed. until addicted comes out, dev's version is better. it's supposed to match the mood of the story, which at that point they're traveling through hyperspace and everything is peaceful. That's why the vocals are so calm.

her voice doesn't fit this song at all. the breathiness of devin townsends voice on the original is kind of what made the song as good as it was. if she toned down instead of just belting it out, maybe this would have been cool. she has quite a nice body, but she can't do justice to this song.
