  • It's an interesting video, but not really a surprise. Any time you take a fighting system and modify it with rules, you put the combatants on equal footing because no matter how they approach (style, stance, concepts, etc.) you're still bound by a system of rules which only allow each fighter a limited set of technique. You're seeing some basic concepts in this, but you're not seeing joint attacks, blows to the vitals, etc.. and like all sport, protective gear, no weapons.

  • @SilatPlayer81 Well said my friend.

  • the point of wing chun is defense and to wait to be attacked first. in silat you always try and attack first to have the upper hand.

well in this video i see the wing chun guy trying to attack first and the silat gy just standing back waiting to be attacked

  • @ilikepenguins100, Actually Silat doesn't put an emphasis on attacking or defending, but rather the combination of the two. Hence the concept of taking your opponents space, taking care of center line, disrupting the base and hitting.. all of it as you move in. You're attack and defense are a combination of movements done all at once. I think this is simply a case of combative arts who train for serious self defense, being modified for legal use in a cage. Sport and combat are different.

  • @ilikepenguins100, To expand on my comment.. if Silat players were always attacking first, you wouldn't see so many examples and demonstrations of Silat responses to punches, kicks, grappling, takedowns, etc... It IS true that you want to neutralize the attack rather than just keep blocking, but Silat does very well in response to being attacked.

  • @SilatPlayer81

    silat is better

  • @LCPD9111 I think both have some value.. it's pretty interesting to me that some of the trapping and drill concepts are so similar between styles. But from a realistic street perspective, I've never found a perfect system. All of it has to be applied to realistic scenarios and done in sparring. I've spent 21 years in martial arts, between Aikido and Pencak Silat.. I've stripped elements from both that I felt weren't going to help in a fight.

  • @SilatPlayer81

would silat and wing chun be effective against an mma fighter in a street fight?

  • @LCPD9111 I think that really just depends on the person using it. If a Silat or Wing Chun practicioner didn't practice at speed against a resisting opponent, I think the MMA fighter would beat the living snot out of him. It would look fancy until the guy plowed you into the ground and caved your head in. However, assuming that they HAVE trained realistic, yes it's extremely effective. I favor both aspects.. I love my style, but train realistically and I've succesfully defended myself.

  • In my point of view, silat is an art or culture and it doesn't belong to any country. Yet anthropologically speaking, it definitely belongs to a nation which lives and forms Malay Archipelago for thousands of years. The same thing also goes for other culture/subject for example weapon s.a kriss, food, clothes and so on. It is absolutely incorrect for any country claiming as its originality & 'copyright'. People who never learn & study will only say so :)

  • @Saito682, Well said.. Many modern styles are evolving based on older systems from different regions. Some systems are a combination of many styles after having extracted techniques from each to form a complete system based on the preferences of the martial artist who developed it. Silat's evolution is no different.. however and whenever it started, it has evolved and been modified/expanded on many times over.

  • man this fight finishing on the ground doesnt really let me know who the better fighter is

  • Whats funny is that the real (non bootleg) fight is right here on youtube, and it less views and more complaints. Which just goes to show, people are pretty much full of shit.

  • and so 2 striking martial arts fighters ends up fighting on the ground and the match with a guillotine.......

  • pencak silat win.

    wing chun lose.

    see the more hd video:

    Silat is from indonesia.

If another country try to claim this martial art is wrong, The truth is silat is from indonesia.

  • @nicoawan but history tell that in ancient time, silat was use in philipine, thailand, cambonia, indonesia, malaysia(include singapore), and brunei.

  • @aremieroll1990 plus in vietnam also!

  • @nicoawan I thought silat was also from malaysia?

  • @nicoawan pentjak silat is from indonesia, true, but there are many froms of silat across asia, that are all different

  • I can't stand that anytime someone stands like that, that people assume the guy is doing actual Wing Chun. That's not the proper stance, the guy isn't getting his body into the strikes, he's just a goofy guy that is hitting wildly.

  • @tgreer0120 that is absolutely correct, but in a MMA environment can a pure WC fighter do actual wing chun to defend takedowns and ground defense vs G&P and submissions? the WC guy couldn't even defend against a single arm guillotine.... >_>

that is why MMA is how fair combat should be, both of them need to learn wrestling and jiu jitsu

  • @HomasterX, regardless of the cage environment, people should know how to deal with being taken to the ground, in clinch, etc. As for WC in MMA, it's impossible to say, there's never been a legit WC practitioner in an MMA fight online. Anyway, MMA is too much a sport with too many rules to have it work well with every style, it limits people to BJJ, boxing, wrestling, kickboxing and not too much else.

  • @tgreer0120, I agree.. Sport should be seperated from combat. They are two very different things. By the time you remove all of the illegal aspects of a combative art so that it's modified for cage fighting, it's really just another MMA style striking, grappling art. On the street, utilizing WC or Silat styles, you can express the full potential of the martial art because there is no referee who will stop the fight when you break a joint or drop an eblow point to the neck or spine.

  • @midweight warning! rapist alert!

  • @13Metal13Head13 do you accept there are trolls on the internet? if you want a fair comparison of wing chun don't just rage about it, watch my video on wing chun vs mma discussion, theres part 1,2,3,4 what is fact and what is fiction is all revealed on that video in regards to wing chun and MMA and the phallacies certain sifu's bring with WC to try claim they can defend against takedowns when they couldn't, my videos are all based on research, experience and on neutral grounds, not insulting

  • @HomasterX erm...sorry but i would not spend my time to see a guy dressed awkwaard to saying stuff!look i am doing wc and i can defend on takedowns!all ppl can outside of the cage where you can use small joints manipulation and lots lots more!and i dont rage man lol!i do wing chun and i spar with other styles and i like them also!i like almost all the styles!i dont say wc is the best and all others are garbage like some brainwashed bjj kidos who have never been on a fight on the street!

  • @13Metal13Head13 I like how you judge a book by it's cover and miss out on the content and things I want to share to make the world a better place, alright well each to their own, no idea why you'd say dressed in a 10th planet jiu jitsu rash guard is suddenly awkward, each to their own lol

  • @HomasterX I don't think I was wearing a gi right? I hope you don't find my wing chun kung fu jacket I got on the outside scared you lol! oh wait you do do wing chun... so what's to be afraid of? lol and no there is no such thing as the best style, yes I do teach WC as one of my styles, but yeah the video I got there answers the facts from the myths of WC and also MMA

  • @midweight U cunt i bet u you couldn't do any better then these guys...... i bet you don't even do martial arts and if u did you'd be a disgrace to martial arts u fucker

  • @midweight and adding meat sauce to a cup cake doesn't turn the cake into meat, it's just meat sauce on cup cake, cool aye?

see the level of intelligence to your reasoning and how I dropped to your level to compare things? cool aye? learn to troll you fail troll

  • as for a drunken hobo against gracie ....no contest but he was beaten by a judo guy and so was his father, also wrestlers have beaten bjj people, many mma people are judoki and champion wrestlersand they win, this argument is a bit dated,I have beaten top kung fu with kickboxin,in the old days many standup styles were naive but now they all practice grappling even wing chun, sumatran silat has a lot of grapplin so best to learn both ring sport and combat

  • horrible, Is not Wing Chun

  • This is the result of putting martial art into a ring.. at the end of the day its just a brawl with no art.

  • @TJmusical it's a lot harder when your partner does not cooperate lol.

  • Comment removed

  • @PitBullsBiteHard LOL i get what you mean !

  • @TJmusical yeah, but u cant blame the art itself, the practioners themselves need to learn to to control the adrenaline in a "real" fight, most martial artists dont really take into account the effects of adrenaline in a real combat situation n they cannot focus most of what they learn goes out of the window and can turn into a mess like this.. there is so much presure in a real fight to win and not to lose, all ur techniques need to be simple direct and effective, bruce had it right

  • realllt dont like silat on the ring....

  • If Royce Gracie got into a fight with some crazed drunken hobo, he'll get raped and torn to pieces. That's why silat, kung fu, muay thai, and karate are more effective in self defense than jujitsu. Brazilian Jujitsu's a fucking joke to me despite it's fame in the octagon.

  • @DaddyWarbucks452 You honestly believe that? Really, a drunk hobo?

Ok, there's no real reason for me to use a logical argument here. You're just an idiot.

  • @ThePinkMan Fuck you man.

  • Comment removed

  • Great Fight! Both fighters were actually trained in using their styles.

  • YEah. Great Pesilat......

  • Furthermore, pining a man's arm down - when he is unfamiliar with grappling - is easy. I've done it to guys 50 to 80lbs heavier then me. A fish out of water, that's what they become. Not to mention ground and pound baby. Your outta there in seconds. Now that has happened to me. The initial shock of the slam will leave you senseless.

  • buat malu je

  • They have to wear headgear cos silat and wing chun strikes are just way too powerful!!

  • @DarthAlSadr You don't really believe that do you? Are you under the impression that they hit harder than pro boxers? Seriously, your kidding right? Those punches were simply not powerful.

  • LOLOL!!! 2 dudes slapping each other. Kicks are nice though, well some of them. But to the comment of grappling, they would get eaten on the ground by a basic blue belt. Let's stick to effective combat. Seriously, there is a reason that you do not see world class fighter utilizing these techniques.

  • @schmopykins:

You say that, but whilst most people (including you, it seems) belive that ju-jitsu style floor fighting is more REAL, i dont think it is, really.

YES, in astreet fight, if a guy gets you down, you may be in some BIG shit.

BUT, in the ring, your oppnent is NOT allowed to:

    1. take your eyes out

    2. rip your balls off

    3. break your bones

So, the ground fighter has an AMAZING advantage, cus the other guy isnt allowed to perfom the ONLY counter moves, to wrestling

  • @fatfantastic Well brother, you need to educate yourself in the history of bjj. There is plenty of fights with no rules against Kung Fu masters where they are dominated. One notable fight is Jason Deluka (I think that's his name) against Royce Gracie. In club fight were Gracie - who was significantly smaller - destroyed him. Furthermore, Gracie Jiu-jitsu started by placing ads in Brazilian papers challenging all martial artist to fights. To which they consistently won.

  • @fatfantastic And if you think you can handle a suplex or double leg takedown on the pavement, think again. Instant knock out. Furthermore, bjj practitioners will gain position and rain down elbows, knees, and the like to get the sub. Bruce Lee once said to Judo Gene Labelle - "armbar me and I'll bite your leg", he responded, "bite me, and I'll break your arm". Just youtue these fights. Your living in a dream world. The UFC started with no rules, and was dominated by a little 170lb kid Royce.

  • @schmopykins I'm not against bjj, but you need to check /watch?v=tm9q07aaato. That's when a 'big-mouthed' bjj guy challenge silat. Seems those takedowns doesn't work anymore.

  • @fatfantastic punch this into youtube -BJJ Vs Kung Fu, Judo, Kenpo Karate & Hapkido. (HD 720p) - nuff said.

  • @schmopykins:

This argument could go on forever:

Suffice to say, if yuo look at the kung fu guy, he STARTS the fight MOVING BACKWARDS - he's already lost !

You cant fight somoen liek gracie, with fear in your mind, cus gracie will just move in and kill you - he's one of THE best fighters in the wolrd !

The ONLY way the kung fu man could beat him was to fucking ATTACK fast and hard, but he simply wasnt up to it.

He LITERALLY stood there and waited for gracie to kill him, BOTH TIMES

  • @schmopykins:

2 - the RUSSIAN JUDO GUY:

He looked better, and gracie even backed off, to begin with (just to suss him out, i know).

But he DIDNT move in for the kill, with enough seriousness. And AS SOON as gracie moves back at him, he pulls back - FEAR KILLS !

And he did JUDO and boxing (which is basically, ju-jitsu ! It just wasnt an even match !

Then the "kempo" instructor - he was just some kid, who could never have got a figth with gracie, except "back street", liek this !

  • @schmopykins:

3 - the next kung fu guy (in yellow shorts):

HE had gracie round the throaght, but wasnt bad enough to crush his windpipe - he cudda broke hsi neck !

THEN, he throws gracie over, gracie CONSTANTLY KICKS HIM IN THE BALLS - cus gracie is WORRIED !

Then when kung fu gets on top, he was in a GREAT position, to grab gracies balls, but he sticks to the RULES.

Then he DOESNT BITE HIS FACE OFF - then he LOSES !

    RULES KILL !

Gracie broke the rules, so he couldnt lose !

  • @schmopykins:

    5 - the hapkido guy:

He bowed, to start the fight, so it was his own fault. BUT he asked gracie to wait a second, and started talking to someoene - gracie dont care, he just JUMPS HIM- a bit dirty minded, really.

He asks for a rematch, and AGAIN, gracie JUMPS HIM, without stating the match !

    Why be so dirty ?

I bet he insisted that his opponent couldnt poke his eyes out, or rip his balls off. The more i watch, more more foul play there is, with the gracies.

  • @schmopykins:

6 - hapkido (in the red):

ANOTHER one, who seesm to thnk he can "learn" about ju-jitsu, by fighting a gracie !

    DOH !

The gracies are professional fighters. One of them (i think roy) is a marine commando fighting instructor - WHO can fight him ?

You dont see the gracies saying "lets put full combat gear on, and figth witha speznatz" Oh no - the gracies lieke the ring, with weaker opponents !

They are PROS, but they like the odds in their favour !

    THE END !

  • @fatfantastic

Thats my video youre commenting about and let me just tell you, that you SERIOUSLY havent got a clue what youre talking about my friend. Youve got your facts all wrong and dont know what happened behind the scenes at all.

All I will say is that you are wrong. VERY wrong.

  • @fatfantastic You have to be kidding me. Your last response was utter nonsense. Stop making excuses as to why these dudes got their ass kicked. Lesser opponents, are you kidding me. You honestly think any of these dudes would stand a chance against someone like George St. Pierre, or Anderson Silva. Your utterly crazy or simply delusional. They fight in the ring because that's where the best fighters in the world are. They want to make money, and only the best will succeed. Pure fantasy son

  • @fatfantastic This is not the movies, but real life. The problem is, no matter how many times you see these dudes get owned, you just wont get it. The psychology of a real fight is serious. You back up due to the reality that you are indeed in a fight. Once the first blow comes, and connects, all that fancy shit is out the window. Even when you watch two kung fu guys go at it, it looks nothing like it does when they are practicing. Seriously brother, you need a reality check.

  • @schmopykins:

Really, so why were the rules changed in UFC, several yrs ago ?

Oh it was because the ju-jitsu boys were SO stupid, that they kept running into mens knees and feet.

So they removed the dangerous kckcs, like "kicking upwards from the floor, into a jitsu's chin", and then the jitsus felt much more comfortable throwing themselves at the fighters, KNOWING that they couldn't get half their face smashed off.

Seriously, you people are starting to get right on my tits !

  • @fatfantastic Do you know how ridiculous you sound. They were dominating without rules. Do you even know what the rules are? You can still kick you know. They changed the rules to expand the sport, every state has certain rules and regulations. Even kung fu competitions have them. Dude, you sound like a completely ignorant individual. Sure their game had to become more complete because strikers started grappling, and hence used the very martial art that dominated full contact fighting to survive

  • @fatfantastic And that was my last message to you. You are by far the most ignorant person with concerns to martial arts I have ever conversed with. It's obvious that you are not a martial artist and have no idea what your talking about. it would serve you well to go to a Bjj/MMA academy and find out first hand. Otherwise, you will hold this belief and find yourself on your back in a rear naked choke begging for mercy. And your comment about upward kicks, just watch Pride. Your foolish.

  • @schmopykins

go and suck your mother, you complete cock in a frock !

You cant fight unless there are special rules to proterct you - end your sport is homosexual ! (which is why you liek it)

  • @fatfantastic I dont understand - are everyone who comments here gay or just you?

  • @fatfantastic

Please go educate yourself on MMA before you state such crazy comments again.....

    [....sigh]

  • @schmopykins:

    Cont'd....

Dont get me wrong, i KNOW that anyone who ignores grappling is doomed, to be grapled to death.

BUT, i dont think many of the grapplers would survive very long, if the rules didnt prevent their opponents form ripping their balls off, or taking their eyes out. You CERTAINLY cooudnt do all the monkey business that you see on tv, nowadays, if there were no rules.

Also, KARATE was developed to fight the Samurai (who were ju-jitsu fighters). That wasnt for NOTHING.

  • @fatfantastic

Personally, because I come from a JKD background, we practise our BJJ with simulated ball grabbing/punching, eye gouges, bites etc etc and let me tell you that it is very unwise to do to someone who is on top of you as they will give you what you gave them, but TWICE as bad in every aspect. Its just not advisable to do unless you arent bothered about getting yourself SERIOUSLY hurt for doing it.

You might get away with it with some guys, but beware! You could wake up death.

  • @SkemeKOS:

Who said to someone on top of me ? I never.

But if you're scared of hurting someone, in case they hurt you more, im surprised if youve ever won any fight.

PErosnally, if osme big or nasty looking idiot attacks me, the FIRST thing i do, to even the mental balance, is kick him right in his nuts. Now HE is the one who thinks twice, and we've only just started.

If i tried to fight "politely", he would just kill me.

  • @fatfantastic

Actually you DID mention using dirty tactics while on the ground.

You talk about kicking to the balls now, but Im not talking about stand up fighting.

Im talking about doing that stuff to someone who is on top of you. Dont say you havent been warned, my friend.

  • @SkemeKOS:

Yeh, i'll remember that - be nice to the guy who's on top of you, and he will be nice back !

Ive never heard such shit in my life.

  • @fatfantastic

Then you still have much to learn, young grasshopper.

  • @SkemeKOS:

    yeh yeh

  • @fatfantastic

I advise you to learn a grappling art and every now and then, spar using simulated "dirty" tactics and see how effective they really are.

Im betting you will change your mind on using them...

  • @schmopykins about your videos bjjvskunkf fu,kenpro etc etc!have you notice you DUMB BRAINWASHED MONKEY that all the fights are inside the gracies gym?eh?and if you search also you will find that the gracies ffights only with their rules idiot!most of this fights are fake and propaganda!retarded gaylord!with your way of thinking cath man martial art is the best because one man raped all the gracies watch?v=e6khZnrh4RE&list=FLr56kOqWXmcLjCJkDBRNc6Q&index=33&feature=plpp_video NUFF SAID!BEGONE NOW

  • silat has groundfight in it? the silat guy looks quite comfortable on the ground. it's a good fight and u can see some good points from both fighters. that's some impressive arm power in the end to cause such discomfort holding him with only 1 arm haha

  • wing chun and silat are good arts but mix them together

  • AHAHAHAHAHAH I WONT SEE THE FINAL ACTION IN A STREET! WHEN THE WING CHUN GUY CAN PUSH HIS FINGER IN THE EYE OF THE SILAT GUY IN THAT BAD SITUATION! ;))) :D wing chun 4life!

  • @Ceskello0o0o anyone can stick their finger in someones eye.... u dont have to know wing chun to do that lol, thats just called street fighting

  • @fullmetal891 pff!same old stuff again!all can poke your eye but few will do !in martial arts you train your body/mind to react with certain technics on certain situations!for example i am training every single day to poke your eye when you grab me and you train to try to knock me down if i grab you so when the time will come and someone grab you the first think you will do is to try to knock him down but me the first think i will do is to poke his eyes!you will do what you have been train to do

  • @13Metal13Head13:

yes, i agree wioth you, mate.

I never used to worry about being wrestled to the ground, but since ufc/mma, its become so popular, that its a MAJOR threat. The last thing you want is some bastard getting you all trapped and fucked up on the ground.

BUT, the ONLY logical solution is to end the fight FAST, so he CANT do that.

So now, if someone attacks me in the street, he'd better watch his eyes, and his bones !

I will smash his knee, or poke his eyes, NO problem.

  • @13Metal13Head13 actually i do muay thai and taekwondo so id start the fight with a roundhouse, so your lil gay eye technique wouldnt do shit buddy

  • @fullmetal891 errr?lol!so if you wearing a jin youre tecnick is useless!lol!outside is not the ring where you wear your athetics costume!lol!and i dint said that i will try to eye poke evry one if you try to grab me and knock me donw then i will grab you !depents on the opponent!are you sure that you have do any martial art in your life?cause what i am saying to you is the bases i mean lol!roundhouse?lol!

  • @Ceskello0o0o it's not hard to stop his left hand because both have 1 hand free on that side in this situation. but i'd be more worried about his right arm grabbing the nuts lol. but that is not a technique of wing chun specifically. anyone can do it. therefore this technique is playing risky tactics, and perhaps only used as an emergency

  • ni lah perlawanan paling teruk pernah aku tgk.. dah ilang seni nak belawan ..gaya mcam pondan bercakaran..huh!

  • wing chun eat shit again

  • which is which?

  • @MechPhantom the one with the shorts is usining Whin Chun.

  • @Moglis00 cool thx, both of them are pretty good,i love both arts but i prefer silat more thats all. See you bro

  • very cheap wannabe martial arts!

  • the cameraman is STUPID...parkinson or what?

  • rubbish

  • Finally a fight where the silat is declared winner

  • im pencak silat fighter

    pencak silat Tapak Suci

  • @tapaksuciPM pencak silat mande muda lumpat maninkabau harimao. XD I LOVE SILAT. it's addicting isn't it. lol. Hormat.

  • @tapaksuciPM umm...so?

  • Please Watch: watch?v=wgxhuoYK7h8&feature=feedlik

  • nice fight!well at least there wasnt too much on the ground thank god!this mma is realy boring with 2 dudes rabbing each other all the time!gzzzz

  • @13Metal13Head13 you just dont understand the ground game to appreciate the skill and art in it.

  • @p4nd4spr4wl no!i understand it and i appreciate but for a show is boring !just that!

  • NIce.

The Silat person should learn more throws.

Sport Silat mainly uses throws after catching a leg.

I think most, under the waist, Wing Chung kicks are not allowed in Sport so there's nothing to catch.

And maybe he could have used more leg sweeps and scissor takedowns?

    Respect to both!

  • who won the fight?

  • interesting fight, terible ground work though.. tut tut

  • Only a half a round??

  • Both ground work are weak

  • i'm a wing chun praticer... nice fight! ;D
