  • 7:56 WTF?

  • The master of satire.

  • formicas really KEEEN!

  • THE CLEANSER THE CLEANSER!!!

  • add water, makes it's own sauce

  • for a second i thought the host is tony danza

  • okmm

  • I wasnt aware of this movie...i though that uncle meat was the title of his 1969 album... or is there no relation between the two???

  • The Roxy stuff does not feature Jon Luc Ponty, as this clip does...

  • can anyone identify any of the equipment in this video?

  • great stache hahaha

  • Frank Zappa was a genious... anyone who says something else doesnt know what they're talking about...

  • i enjoyed this clip.funny part when frank explaines the film.

  • that bit at the end sounds like variations on a similar sounding bit from st Alphonso's pancake breakfast.

  • Do ya reckon Frank chose to sit in that exact part of his kitchen so the audience could see how the interview was cut by watching the hands of the clock?

    I wonder...

  • I'll love your music always, Frank!

    You're the best!

  • anybody knows what is the track playing in the beginning? sounds like a giorgio moroder's song a bit..

  • the song is "penguin in bondage" i think, ive definatly heard it on a couple albums.

  • dude what. its definitely penguin in bondage. from roxy? are you a zappa fan?

  • you serious? its from roxy and elsewhere man, penguin in bondage. are you a zappa fan?

  • Why did the host's outfit change?

  • "...and spreads it throughout the land using all the frightening little skills that science has made available."

I can't believe how fast they play that. I saw this band perform in Ohio about a month after this show aired. Ruth and Ralph and Bruce and Ian and Tom and Jean-Luc all together and NAILING IT!!!

    Thanks for putting this up....

  • Is that live footage available officially? The so-called Roxy band were incredible - amazing to hear that bit that ended up in Greggery Peccary (as you pointed out, GeorgieTireBiter)

  • The Roxy DVD is supposedly coming out sometime soon, I doubt this will be in it though, this looks like the 1973 band when Jean Luc Ponty was guesting, Napoleon Murphy Brock had not joined at that point.

As for the Greggery Peccary part, the original piece they're playing here is "Farther Oblivion" (not to be confused with "Father O' Blivion"), it also originally contained the Bebop Tango, and I believe some versions included an instrumental arrangement of "Cucamonga" from Bongo Fury.

  • Join the march and eat my starch

  • Uncle Meat is my fave FZ album

  • I wish I could get it more than I do. It's like Monte Python...I know I was supposed to think it was cool but I just didn't.

  • flappin her 8 oz wings.

  • WOW ! Not only did I never see this version of penguin in bondage, but I had never even heard it on any bootleg that I know of ! FZ seems so contemporary compared to the vacuous moves of the trendy 80s punkies at the end of this video !

  • well you must be have it jumping through a hoop of real fire/with some kleenex wrapped around a coathang wire

    frank was the best

  • I'm using the chicken to measure it.

  • That's fantastic! I had never seen footage of bondage being performed... Awesome!

  • Too bad Uncle Meat never became realized...

  • Uncle Meat was released on VHS.

  • "One of our friendly counselors ......gave him a dohnut, ......and told him to stick closer to church oriented social activities." Joes Garage, FZ A true original R.I.P.

  • The concert footage is from European tour, circa August-September 1973. Not sure about the exact date or place, but you can definitely tell it's European tour by Ian Underwood playing the bass clarinet as opposed to alto sax as usual.

  • I'd assume Musical Mayhem was the TV show or segment.

  • Whats Musical Mayhem? The songs called Penguin in Bondage, iznit?

  • many thanks, check my channel, approximately 70 zappa clips.

  • thank you for this rarity.

  • Where´s that concert footage from? Thanks for posting, by the way.

  • Baltio; the concert footage is of the Roxy performance, which would be around '73. It was released as the Roxy and Elsewhere record in '74.

  • I don't think so. Jean Luc Ponty is not on Roxy & Elsewhere, I believe.

  • I apologise, I was wrong. Stupidly, I failed to realise that ponty and his violin are in the footage. Plus, the Roxy footage looks very similar too. The line-up is probably from just before the Roxy line-up; possibly the February-September '73 band. But I'm certain that it's '72 or later as Ruth Underwood is in there - she didn't join untill '72 and I think George Duke joined around the same time; maybe early '73 - although I may be wrong.

  • George Duke was already in zappa´s band in 1970.this footage is from australia(sydney)1973.ian underwood was with the band in australia also.

  • The footage is much more difficult to be precise about due to the fact that FZ recorded every gig; and filmed the vast majority - as I expect you already know. I'd hazard a guess at it being from the U.S tour - if that's any help?
