The only advise is: this music was composed by Jeremiah Clarke not Purcell.
The confusion was made because this gender of music got another name "improvisation" we do not use "Voluntary" any more.Word from Latin [Voluntas], that means "will". Volutary means "free will". The trumpet, cornet, associated to voluntaries is just a stop of the organ. So, Trumpet Voluntarie March, is just a register made in the pipe organ. We can´t associate sonatas only to Beethoven. Purcell have other VOLUNTARIES
@l1belula I don't understand your comment, I was always under the impression that this was a piece by Purcell. If not then who composed it? I would be very interested to know.
@MrHeadrocker50 The Prince of Denmark's March, commonly but erroneously called the Trumpet Voluntary, is a musical composition (a march) written circa. 1700, by English baroque composer Jeremiah Clarke (who was the first organist of the then newly rebuilt St Paul's Cathedral).

that IS a piccolo trumpet. it's the only trumpet with 4 valves. the 4th acts as a better in tune 1&3 combo.

I can't believe this is still being attributed to Purcell.
