If you or your co-workers ever wish to form a union in your workplace, you should probably begin by speaking with other unions that are currently active, as they will be able to give you information on what to do and what to expect. Arm yourselves with knowledge. I would recommend reading about the Mohawk Valley Formula (wikipedia) and the actual strike in which it was used: The Remington-Rand strike of 1936-1937 (also wikipedia). Though Chomsky advises direct worker ownership instead of unions.
The Trade UNION Movement was started in Scotland, today all Britain hasn't the fear of Socialism which exists even today in U.S.A., Capitolism was also started in Scotland (Adam Smith "Wealth Of Nations"). Capitolism is the best system, but it must be tempered with Human Kindness, Fairplay, Common Sence, and less GREED. I've just read that Ben Franklin and Adam Smith (when they met in Edinburgh) were in agreement on these matters. TY for this wonderful film.
All these people were that acted and wrote and directed for this movie were ALL blacklisted and forced to register under the McCarren act. All these people were considered communists.
Brilliant. thanks for this!

Wow! Quite impressive. I'm surprised they were brave enough to deal with such subject matter in 1953!

Thanks very much for posting. This movie is fascinating in its own right and as a historical document.

Too true. Part of the moral here is less 'wishing' - more action. Take care!
