And lf u look at the regular 200m, Bolts 3rd best time ever is right on pace with Tysons 19.58. What that means is anytime Bolt even has a 'so so race", against Tyson he will lose. And trust me Tyson isnt the only one bolt has to worry about this year. He needs to REALLY worry about his own team mate - Yohan Blake

I like how the bbc make the runmore amazing by saying he ran 8.8 in the last 100. Gay is Quick but this race won't mean anything in the context of 100 metre racing, it was a fun day out for fans and a good tester for Gay to see where he is at in terms of fitness. All in all good day. I do hope Gay has figured out how to get quicker, I do like his respectable and honest demeanour and his determination/attitude he is a very good role model and champion. Well Done!

Tyson is not the fastest starter.. but.. from about 3 sec mark into the race shows devastating acceleration to go past Christian.....seen him do the same to Craig Pickering.....awesome power!!

ahhhh something to comment on. I consider myself a true fan of the sport. I've been called a kiss ass and even a sell out because i said on one of these videos that Tyson would beat Bolt which of course y'all know he has. Talent, dedication and determination. Say what you will but the Tyson has a big role to play in the excitement of the sport. He keeps Usain on his toes, if Bolt ever has an off day Tyson WILL be there to claim the spoils of victory. In my opinion, if Both Gay and Bolt are 100% healthy(fit), the only way Gay will beat Bolt is, Bolt would have to have a very very terrible start and Gay is ahead of him by 5 meters at the 80m mark, other than that it is not even a discussion.

In my opinion, Tyson can put the pressure on Bolt if he is not too distanced to him during the first 50m. Maurice greene has recently said the same thing... In a top form, he can do that.

I don't think Usain will run under 9.60 all time.

Are you guys serious, because looking on the Berlin 100m, Tyson and Usain have about the same turnover. And it is true that Bolt's long legs give him less strides(41-42) than shorter athletes(45-46), so there is no way can we truthfully say Gay is faster than Bolt. (Bolt is at least 2 meters better than Gay).

That is why Bolt is unique, because normally taller athletes turnover are awful.

As soon as he gets upright, THEN, he's able to take advantage of that MASSIVE stride nobody in the race can match. What does Bolt run at 5'11 - 6'0 height?. Can't see him running 9.58. If Bolt was the same height as Gay, then we would see a race, who was twitch 4 twitch the fastest guy on the planet. Bolt's stride is nullified.

That's the most amazing thing about Bolt, his start and turnover isn't normal for a sprinter standing at 6'5". You're right that if Bolt was 5'11" like Gay he'd be slower, BUT if Gay was 6'5" like Bolt, he'd also be slower.

When a cheetah hunts down its prey, it aims for length not rate (energy efficient). Bolt has the length, just like the cheetah. Put Bolt at 5'11, like Tyson. Guess what?. He ain't running no 9.58. His swinging limb advantage is negated.

Height isn't everything, if it was then NBA players would be running 9.3's. For the longest, taller sprinters were thought to be at a disadvantage especially out of the blocks til Bolt showed up. Bolt has an extremely fast turnover rate for his height and gets great starts considering how long his limbs are.

Tyson gay has faster muscle twitches then usain bolt, like they say it takes tyson gay 45 steps on 100 meter and it takes usain bolt 41, those good old 4 steps is from usain being tall, he has more stride over tyson gay, if you watch you can see tyson gay pumps faster. Tyson gay n usian bolt basically got the same twitch speed but usain bolt height helps him

It is not only the brain, it's about fibre composition. their fast twitches are equally fast as ours, but they have a higher percentage, and of course a better trained nerv system as you said.

@Sick3ninVend3tta then why are taller people generaly not as fast as a-typical sprinters? the reasons why bolt is so fast is much more complicated than "he's tall". sprint speed is a function of both stride length and stride rate. and stride length is determined by much more than limb size... it has alot to do with force productio and power. if taller realy did equal faster there would be alot more 6'5' guys sprinting, but generaly taller = poor accelloration
