Tom Hardy is pretty big. He's buff and muscular enough to be able to whip your ass while still moving rather quickly. Kind of like a mixed martial artist which he played one in Warrior. But obviously we all knew that Bane wasn't going to be huge like we all know seeing as how Christopher Nolan's Batman films are meant to be somewhat realistic.

Guys, if you got a mess of both cops and prisoners in an all out brawl, a cop pulling a gun out would only make things worse. Look how disorganized the fighting is; its probably hard to tell who is who anyways. A cop might shoot another cop; a criminal might wrench a gun from cop's hand. If its in the holster and he/she is focused on fighting, the cop will be preventing the criminal from obtaining the gun. However, this might not be said for the criminals...

Tom Hardy is I think 5'10 or 5'11 and Christian Bale is 6'1 1/2,the height different isn't that bad,and Bane in the comic books is supposed to be over 7 feet tall,but that's on Venom,when he's normal he actually is about the height of Tom Hardy,so I think Christopher Nolan is doing a more realistic take on Bane or maybe he will get bigger later on,who knows haha
