FUNNY NOTE: In the World of so-Called Fine Art, " the Artist Roy Lichtenstein", made his claim to fame by merely Spoofing Jack Kirby's "Young Romance Comic" characters! And so did Andy Warhol. So JACK KING KIRBY is the greatest after all. Long live the KING!
I used to love this show, but I never saw this ep. Jack had already passed away by the time they started running the show here, and I guess they decided not to show it for that reason. So, it was great to see it. Thanks for the upload.
I loved this show as a kid and watched it every week. It was a rare bird, even at that time, to have a show like this. I wish there was something like this still on.
my god its like you can see straight into his soul looking at him, he's such a beautiful man because of how kind he is, i truly wish i got to meet him
I think this is a fantastic show, corniness and all. The cute animal footage with banjo at the end is priceless. TVOntario used to be a wonderful channel.
I never knew that Jack Kirby was such a nice guy! He's got to be the kindest man in the universe.
anyone who likes this should hunt down a BBC doc with Johnathan Ross were he tries to take down the retireing Steve Ditko. It includes interveiws with Alan Moore and Neil Gaimen talking about his work, it get real interesting when they explore is indepentent years writing Objectionist Heros like Mr A.
great Kirby footage but this show is sure dated. What the fuck is he typing on his wrist? is he wearing a powerglove? So corny now but i woulda watched it on public access back when.
Well, it's a TVOntario show from the early 1990s - what did you expect? ;)
Part of the corniness is the show's history. It was originally created as a kid's show that was later aimed at an adult audience after a sudden bout of infighting with the creators. As for the rest of it, I just took it as the crew having a good time with the material.
The veneer of "corniness" along with its potentially unflattering image of The Typical Media SF Fan is why few of my friends wanted to see this classic show. I was just delighted to see top-level SF/Fantasy writers, most of whom I've never met in person, being interviewed! Thanks for this and ALL of your POG installments, dear lady.
It's humbling to see a man who has seen such incredible acclimation, and will be known for generations to come as a genius, say that it's the act of loving people that's most important to him in his life.
This was probably the best interview I've seen of Jack Kirby. I've never seen or heard him comment on how inspirational his family was to him! That could explain why he didn't want to do anything more than he did in the comics field. He could freelance without feeling the need to punch a time clock or post a title on his door because his family didn't force him to. Thanks for posting this and keep 'em coming!

Good job! With a real interview of the King of Comics. Everything I like about Jack Kirby: precise data to give a background to his artist's life.
