Fair play to the guy for writing the lyrics 30 minutes beforehand, i think as a lyricist he's good, but your last paragraph just didn't make sense to me at all!

nowadays you need a good recording voice and good looks and you will make it as a singer. Major record companies will not care what he can write like, they would probably hire him as a songwriter, but calling him a singer/songwriter is too far for me. His vocals sound like a dying cat and he should stick to singing in the shower.
