I have laughter when Evans Fans now are saying that evans is better then Alberto. I think they should watch this video, where we can see how far is Evans and how powerful attack alberto launched. He attacked so fast, that even Armstrong (i love Lance , it's just a methapore, nothing personal) shit his pants. So we'll wait 2012, to see how Alberto destroyes everybody on his way in Le Tour ;)

contador is best! he won against schleck and astana! you see astana is still leading with klöden and armstrong....he was alone in his team and he beated everyone! respect
@felixhausdorff , because bruyneel wanted lance to win, not alberto. this was also seen in a 1st week stage when the group got broken by the wind, with alberto in the 2nd part, and also astana was working in the 1st part of the group. even under these conditions, Contador won the tour
@felixhausdorff because Johan Bruyneel didn't want Contador to beat Armstrong, it was clear during all the Tour. What is more, in a time-attack stage Contador had to buy good tyres for himself bike because all the good tyres were for Armstrong and Bruyneel only offered him worn tyres
What??? It was Contador (alone) that helped the Schlecks win on stage 17 when he left his team mate Andreas Kloden! Can't blame Johan for that! Contador was selfish all by himself.
@givemetoast But on the third or fourth stage Contador was in a group behind Armstrong, Kloden & Zubeldia, and Johan ordered Zubeldia and Kloden to help Armstrong, just the day after Bruyneel said "Contador is our leader and we'll always support him"
And what you say of stage 17... who is supposed to win the Tour? Contador or Kloden? Contador is supposed to go with the Schlecks and not to stay with Kloden
santicp92, you make good points. But recall that in Stage 4 Lance was leading the Astana Team by several seconds because Contador got stuck in a peloton-break (Contadors own fault). So Bruyneel was correct in directing them to support Lance as he was the team leader at the time. This is normal strategy. The same thing happened between Bradley Wiggins and Christian Vandevelde on team Garmin. No conspiracy there! If Bruyneel was against Contador I dont see how.
@givemetoast You're saying that Armstrong was in front of Contador before stage 4, and that's not true. On the first time trials Contador was twenty-something seconds in front of Lance, and when Contador got stuck (which was HIS own fault, that's more than obvious) Bruyneel ordered to help Lance rather than Contador
Santicp92 Im saying that I appreciate the difficult position that Johan was in! I knew that some fans would criticize Johan no matter who he supported. Tough position!!!!! I think Johans getting unjust criticisms from Contador fans.
As far as stage 17, the Schlecks are climbers (not sprinters). Kloden is one of the strongest finishers in the world! Had Contador stayed with Kloden for a little longer, then it was a flat sprint to the finish. The plan was for Kloden to pull Contador further away from the Schlecks then Kloden or Contador wins stage 17. Contador would also have more time over the Schlecks! Instead, he helped the Schlecks build more time over Astana and still failed to win stage 17. DumbVery poor strategy!!!
@givemetoast I may be wrong, but I think I read on the newspaper that Contador and the Schlecks had talked and reached an agreement so that they three worked together and Contador would let Frank win. It's something I don´t understand, you're right saying it was stupid. However, I don't think Kloden is a sprinter!!
@givemetoast And don't forget what I said before: on the time trials after Verbier, when Contador was "only" 1 min. in front of Andy, Bruyneel decided to give the good tyres to Lance, so that Alberto would have available only the used ones. Contador, LEADER OF THE TOUR AND THE ASTANA had to buy ON HIS OWN tyres for HIMSELF!! I think this fact shows who did Bruyneel support, doesn't it??
Santicp92, if what you say about Johan is true, then Johan was wrong! That would be unacceptable behavior for a team leader! But the story doesnt sound credible to me. Johan would be hurting himself and it doesnt make sense. It sounds like fan gossip! What was the source of that information?
@givemetoast The source of information was ALBERTO CONTADOR, who said it in an interview for a Spanish newspaper. I think it's a reliable source, isn't it? xD Anyway, I agree with you on what happened in stage 17, and thanks for saying my English is good :D
And just to make it clear, I'm not against Armstrong, I have nothing against him, he's quite a good rider! I'm against Johan's policy and strategy on Tour2009
@givemetoast What you say about stage 17 is totally true, but Contador is "helping himself", which is quite reasonable, but on stage 4 and that time trial, Johan didn't support Astana's leader!!
I have laughter when Evans Fans now are saying that evans is better then Alberto. I think they should watch this video, where we can see how far is Evans and how powerful attack alberto launched. I agree Kloden is not a sprinter, but in the flats hes probably a stronger finisher than the Schlecks.
givemetoast 2 years ago
On stage 17, Kloden was NOT trying to win the tour!!! He was trying to HELP Contador and Astana! But Contador didnt seem to realize that.
