  • Wow~! This is Clifford Brown's solo~! I love Theme of this song..

  • Extraordinaire et ces musiciens sont tellement heureux et modestes.Bravo, mais est-ce assez fort comme marque d'estime?.Remarquable, fraternel, encore et toujours.

  • is that muhammad ali at the right?

  • Yes.

  • Double yes

  • Yea, Sherlock, that's Muhammad Ali before he began his boxing career.

  • why so serious?

  • Serious? Didn't you notice that I was smiling, with my tongue in cheek? (*_~)

  • nem gyenge!

  • Did they just do Clifford Brown's legendary solo at the head?

And Sandoval is to trumpet what Steve Vai is to guitar....

  • Huh, for some reason, there's no audio for me when i play this. :/

  • 1 word... WOW :| I agree tvgodoy :D

  • The best Cherokee version ever!!!

  • holy sh....*t...

  • O ic thanks man. all i can say is holy friggin chops.

  • aside from Brecker and Sandoval who are the other trumpet players?

  • Chuck Findley and Byron Stripling. I'm not as familiar with Byron, but Chuck was the lead player for the Buddy Rich Orchestra. He's got some wicked solo chops, in addition to a killer range.

  • Byron is probably the closest to Louis Armstrong as far as sound. He has that older sound nowadays.

  • wow he looks like a young Freedie Hubbard, my bad!

  • wow, Ernie Watts behind Freddie Hubbard was rockin' in the background, lol.

  • wow!!!!

  • I never get tired of this video. Just make sme wish I could find some trumpet players like that to play with.

  • everytime i watch this video, part of the trumpet player inside of me dies! :( they are so good lol.

  • the guy at 4:03 is the best, just reminds you that EVERYONE has a bad chop day sometimes.....

  • Does Aturo change his embrocure when he does the high stuff, because it looks like his mouthpiece is to the left when he does the high lick at the end of his solo. If he doesn't then that's amazing. well either way its amazing really. Love em' all

  • Actually i think the angle of the camera is just exaggerating it

  • This is not humanly possible. Why is there an alien orchestra?

  • ah a cliff brown solo

    in four parts!

    this is amazing

  • This is more like 340 :D

  • glad to see arturo nailed the end on this one. great performance.

  • Man,how lucky the japanese are..They are watching the Best live....

  • Don't forget the great Dave Weckl....

  • You just got Chucked!

  • how are the chops?

  • This music gives me a tingles. My favorite recording of this song, definitely in my top 10. I love how on the last two trading fours solos, the second to the last guy kinda bobbles that riff, then the last guy comes in and shows him up and its just amazing.

  • its true

  • Poor Brecker, He did better at the grammys though.

  • Wait, what? Do my ears decieve me? Is Dave Weckl actually swinging? haha

  • the guy 2nd from the left looks like sirius from harry potter lol.

  • Chuck Findley.

  • Damn it, that's just silly and damn uncalled for. Show offs, lol!

  • OMG !

    respect :P

  • Good job clifford...

  • Clifford the man!

  • Love this video! That solo opening is awesome! (Arturo Sandoval's triples weren't bad either) :)

  • worlds best musicians...they're really gifted..thanks for posting this video

  • I have to say, Chuck Findley is my favorite soloist in this recording. Byron Stripling is a close 2nd though. In a few points, it felt like Byron had a great phrase going, but then he'd go off on a different idea.

Still, the most amazing recording I've heard in a while. :)

  • holy chuck findley!

  • I like the guy playing the trumpet.

  • HAH. you see. thats funny. because theres like, 3 trumpet players.

  • Or 4 lol.

  • snap !

  • Sandoval plays a concert E4 for a second or so, thats an F sharp on the trumpet. F# ABOVE C4, the highest note I've ever heard on trumpet!

  • If that's the highest note you've ever heard, you need to check out Cat Anderson playing The Opener with the Ellington big band.

  • eles são muito bons......são 1000000000000000

  • where can i get this version on cherokee?

  • The album is "Dave Grusin presents: GRP All-Star Big Band Live!" An iTunes search for "GRP" will get you most of the way there.

  • all i can say is that i think i need a box of tissues

  • hahahaha

  • killing

  • this is arturo sandoval, randy brecker, chuck findley and byron stripling playing clifford brown's original trumpet solo at the beginning

  • Amazing

  • best cherokee ever played on earth!

  • waw

  • thats Byron Stripling, faddis is much stronger in the upper register than byron lol.

  • i played with him a few months ago.... monster player

  • great men

  • whats the blackdudes name he had my favorite solo

  • jon faddis i believe... he is a god

  • byron stripling

  • What sort of notes is he hitting at the end there? Above super C?

  • I think it's an F, but he pushes it up to G.

    Not too sure though.

  • F# above dbl (super) C.

    Yeah, he's a beast. :P

  • Ouch that's ridiculous. I can just manage a super B flat, anything above it is a squeek!

  • what trumpet has aruturo?

  • hmm...wish they had played the head first...

  • All I can say is thank you!! I have look long for this piece played by the legendary ever since I played in Drum Corps International. I got to meet quite a few of the guys including Dave Weckyl. I am percussion by heart and am glad you put this on here.. thank you...

  • George Carlin, that's funny ;-)

  • trumpetsoul....are you kidding me?

come on. you should be able to know if its arturo when you see him and definitely when you hear him.

  • is that arturo?? on the first solo

  • yes , where is your soul mr trumpet

  • yes, and george carlin plays the 2nd solo, folowed by jesus.

  • haha

    that was really funny

  • Who else could it be?

  • ehm, this should have been a reply :-/

  • Great!!!

What is the firts unison theme, before solos, some special chorus of Cherokee??? Anybody know??? I've no idea :):):)

  • Hey man, that's the original solo that Clifford Brown played on his famous solo take. Pretty cool 'cause it's harmonized and the players nail it.

  • arturo needs to relax more

  • arturo needs to relax more

  • amazing. is it just me or are there bubbles coming out of the 4th soloists mouth around 3.13 :S

  • I'll bet Arturo can hit notes only a dog can hear(lol)! WOW!!!!

  • no, he hits max f 5.. but it is quite high for trumpet :D

  • still a classic. All from the heart.

    Love it!

  • yeah! charlie parkers solo that clifford brown played as well

  • Wow! Randy Brecker is amazing!!!

  • WOOOOW the intro is the Clifford Brown solo!!!!
