  • Awesome!

  • Actually, it would be fair to credit Whitlam's government with the end of the White Australia policy for good with the 1975 Racial Discrimination Act, buit it had been gradually dismantled earlier, like withdrawals from Vietnam. The times were a changin'.

  • Yes, Gough Whitlam strengthened social welfare and free tertiary education, only to bankrupt the economy. (it is like where the present Gillard government would have us if it were not for the mining industry who export all our carbon producing resources - ha ha) . And as for death penalty- that was an issue already resolved by the States not Federal government. White Australia policy? I'm pretty sure that that ended under Harold Holt also.

  • Haha...good show!

  • Three things you forgot...

The bombing of Darwin - The only battle fought on Australian soil in WW2

AC/DC - The best band in the world..

The chasers war on everything - Their APEC stunt was very funny (The only thing that can get in is a group of comedians)

    Other than that I roflmaoed

  • great stuff ... the dido ringtone is a nice touch

  • LOL Awesome!

  • haha you could totally call this "An Occasionally Accurate History of Australia (and New Zealand)"

    Good work

  • Lol liked it, but the earlier parts were funnier, before it started getting all political and stuff...

  • good one lol!!!!

  • lol lol

  • @Volim1Ranga1

    Cheers.

  • I just love the way that Churchill seems to sound a lot like Sean Connery! Spontaneously combust - LOVE IT! You are so clever!

  • @hammrsgl Thanks again. I appreciate it. If you're keen to see more stuff in a similar vein check out this channel.

  • LMFAO!! Good on ya, mate! I'm from Texas as well, and have a great fondness for all things Aussie (and also, more-or-less, Kiwi, for that matter...). The LBJ accent could've been a bit better (his was almost a caricature of a real Texas accent!), but ur "dubya" accent wasn't too bad at all! Keep up the good work, mate: Funny as fuckin' hell!

  • Well yeah I'm not too good on the various accents in the US. My South Chigaco impression sucks. Nonetheless thanks for the comment and sub. I really gotta get to work on some new videos.

  • what happen to great depression???

  • HAHA You gave Lyndon Johnson a Texas accent! But Lyndon B Johnson didn't have a strong Texas accent though. ANd yes, I am Texan..and no, I don't have a strong accent (truth to be told, I force mines sometimes). Your accent is so close!

  • The GWB accent was just really bad, GWB should have sounded more like Lyndon B.'s

  • Well I'm not too great with American accents, I'll admit it.

  • Hey, you're a LOT better than most, keep on doing "Lyndon B's" accent becuase that sounds very Texan. If you want better practice.. watch King of the Hill. (the accent is slightly different but it will do)

  • now i can pass my aussie history exam 2morrow, thanx mate

  • Good work mate :)

I found the subtle jokes about germany quite funny

And it does make you wonder how ruddy could have got in due to the lack of impressive eyebrows :P

  • Damn,, I realy lost my respect for australia

  • Well done Cinephile.

    Cheers from Washington D.C.

  • Bro, that was fukn brilliant!

  • But really, what could be better than telling lies to everyone?

  • i agree, australia had no Choice but to go to war in wwI and wwII because the british still ran some of our country, but im glad this guy said the truth about gough whitlem

  • True enough, but you can't fit every crisis into a brief history...

I didn't include the Eureka Stockade either amongst other things...

  • funny, but there was the malay emergancy after korea.

  • I thought it was marvelous. Particularly the ringtones.

  • Thanks, it took me days of extra research to discover Winston Churchill's preferred ringtone, but I think it was worth it in the end...

  • Yet no mono-brows. good stuff you should keep em coming!

  • Yet no monobrows...

Or to rephrase that: No monobrows, yet...

  • Very funny! Great stuff young man (well you sound young anyway). Please keep making videos ok...

  • Thanks for the kudos.

  • This two-parter was great fun to watch. Loved the commentary on the eyebrows. And the commentary on history and politics in general, of course.

  • Many thanks. I was pretty amazed by Rudd's win since his eyebrows aren't even worthy of mention. It's possible that a new, schoolboy haircut trend could be ruling voting patterns...

  • Loving the ringtones lol,lol,lol....

  • You were sarcastic about Whitlam and Howard I Suppose :)

  • I'm sarcastic about pretty much everything...

    Sarcasm is so great... /sarcasm

  • The bit about whitlam is so true...

  • i love yr synapsis(dont think i spelt that right ,but dont hold that against me please). get my drift. look forward to more.

  • Muggle weapons! lol. This was hilarious, thanks.

  • Thank you for taking the time to comment.

  • Awesome!!! Fine job...I like the voices...comical.

  • Thanks for watching!

  • gnome-like creature lol

  • You're a disgrace. A completely revolting clip - a disgusting attack on diggers who fought in both world wars, and our history. Why don't you stick to watching youtube instead of degrading our history by putting your rubbish on it.

  • How do you figure that precisely?

  • we shouldn't have been there in WW1, pretty much pointless other than we get to have these beaut psychological scars "the english made us kill ourselves by leaping in front of machine guns" is pretty much all we could say about THAT particular adventure. Basically what it says about our national character is, if you're a more powerful country than us, we'll let you take a big huge crap our faces and then we'll grin like retards and thank you for it.

  • Marvellous. And yes, surprisingly accurate! Good work, you should be proud.

  • Well golly. Thanks.

  • Thought you may be interested Cinephile that part 2 was played to a lecture of first year student in Newie Uni. Piss funny man, you did well.

  • Sweet, do you mean Newcastle Uni?

Good to know that people out there are informed about the subtle dominance of large eyebrows in our political sphere.

  • seems you skipped from Kokoda to end of warin Pacific without crediting the yanks for keeping Oz from speaking Japanese, then jumped right to Vietnam. Heaps died in Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal, and across Pacific theater to the tune of 100K. Dont forget your mates mate. Massive oversight.

  • It is a brief history, of Australia, one might also point out any number of other things that weren't included, but you know, can't fit it all into a 8 minute video. It's not called 'Occasionally Accurate' for nothing. It's a joke mate, not a documentary.

  • thonglormatt i shared your mum last night

  • I think Aussies should kick every body out of the land down under that is not white.Multiculturalism is bad especially in America.

  • I think you should try reading books instead of burning them.

  • So, are you American? I am. Texan, actually. Multiculturalism has gotten nasty in Europe because the politicians bend over backwards to accommodate bullies and extremists (much to the people's chagrin). Americans actually manage it nicely. Unlike Australia, we have no official language, and everyone here is a mutt. We had a nasty current of xenophobia in 2001 which Bush and his lackies took good advantage of... but mostly we're quite sensible. Our common enemy is extremism, not a race.

  • WOW! You are very intelligent for an American (you gotta admit, most of us are quite stupid). WHat part of Texas you from? (I am Texan BTW)

  • very well done! thanks for sharing!

  • The sad thing is that it is true about kids in detention camps. To Australia's great shame. (and I am an Australian)

    Thankyou for making these.

  • I am an Australian as well. I live in Istanbul right now partially because of the rather nasty vibe running through the continent right now, partly because I wanted to go somewhere crazy awesome.

  • very, very nice work. l wish you never had to make it

    love to all

    Pete

  • great video funny and in fact, informative i think :)

found your video while looking for "No Aphrodisiac" by "the Whitlams" - search for [mcasual australia] you'll find my "Austra lies" documentary, but i forgot to cover the part about oversized eyebrows - i also have a video featuring John Howard which you can find by searching for [mcasual iclone]

  • lol I love these!! I love the voices, the cell phones. This great! You must know so much about history to be able to create these!

  • Thanks Angie. I guess they don't get many views because people think they are too serious or something. I'm not actually that well versed in Aussie history really, but these are fun to make.

  • they should get many views. I am going to put them on my profile!
