All of the aid money that was allocated to the disaster by the previous administration was spent two weeks later. There are still whole neighbourhoods condemned (formerly black communities), nobody goes there now and it hasn't been cleaned up yet (nobody wants to spend their money to clean what they regard as 'another person's mess').

I think it is more like the people choose to look at the world through half-opened eyes. KRS has his third (spiritual) eye as wide open as it can be, he chose to look toward what is happening instead of looking away, changing the channel, only watching the current events through the television set in the comfort of the house we relax in after our 9-5.
