There is another angle to the SUV boom-the low pricew of Oil. In the 90's the price of oil fell to about $15-18 USD per barrel allowing for petrol prices to fall as well making the SUV possible.

The fact is that the private sector, with banks lending less to an equivalent of a 5% interest rate, has shrunk. And because interest rates are so low, the only place you can make money is materials land and the stock market....So, there has not been growth, but number manipulation, and no saved jobs, but unsustainable

This is wonderful news that team Obama has decided to concentrate on the economy. Not a whole lot has gone well for him this year. After 11 months in office, unemployment is at a 26 year high, the dollar is tumbling to new lows, ClimateGate has discredited his Cap & Trade legislation and his foreign policy is viewed as weak around the world.

Maybe he'll take a page from the Reagan/Bush economic book and we'll see some tax cuts targeted at individuals and small businesses.
