Lols I went to continue for this game and randomly typed in biff and it took me to the last level and I suddenly beat the game skipping all the other levels!
This game felt....unfinished. I mean you play the game and the graphics are fluid and well rendered, the music's beautiful, the gameplay is fast paced and responsive, a reasonable challenge, not too many bugs. But the first 10 stages are the same song over and over (the one in the video) and it gets tiring, and then more often than not you're faced with obstacles that you simply can't reflex your way out of, you just have to memorize the whole level, which can be frustrating. Still a good game.
@goph000 I kind of always feel that way with Japanese game, at least ones in the 8 - 16 bit era.
This one especially. It's fun, but I feel like it's just a prototype they decided to release in Japan. I feel like it would have probably lead to a sequel somehow.
Because Rare, the company that actually made the game as opposed to the publisher, was populated by a bunch of fuckheads who didn't like watching good movies, or had any clue how to program a good video game.

@andrevus2: Without the BTTF license, I don't think people would be making such a big stink about the game not being localized. It's an alright game, but it doesn't offer what games like Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario World have done years earlier.

@sm4sh3d This game didn't come to the U.S. because LJN held the rights to the Back to the future adaptations. If it did come here, LJN would have been able to sue Toshiba EMI.
@ThoseKidsInTheNHood not that sure, it's a different game, that came after, with the official license. There were BTTF games for PC and many other consoles that didn't come from LJN. LJN got the license, but didn't have any exclusive license.
@Stonethrower7 The company that made it was unable to secure NA distribution rights, possibly barred by LJN. Its the same thing that happened to the Far East of Eden series.
This is about as good a cover of the BTTF theme you will ever get without ripping the theme straight from the movies.

Because Rare, the company that actually made the game as opposed to the publisher, was populated by a bunch of fuckheads who didn't like watching good movies, or had any clue how to program a good video game.

@andrevus2: Without the BTTF license, I don't think people would be making such a big stink about the game not being localized. It's an alright game, but it doesn't offer what games like Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario World have done years earlier.

@sm4sh3d This game didn't come to the U.S. because LJN held the rights to the Back to the future adaptations. If it did come here, LJN would have been able to sue Toshiba EMI.

@ThoseKidsInTheNHood not that sure, it's a different game, that came after, with the official license. There were BTTF games for PC and many other consoles that didn't come from LJN. LJN got the license, but didn't have any exclusive license.

You can find emulators and/or roms at various sites.
I personally prefer the ZSNES emulator. Everyone says it's the best.
