one of the reasons i started playing bass as a kid... was that in my childhood mind i always thought the bassists were the good, noble, nice guys... with almost compelling personalities while guitarists are the broadchested attention freaks that they are...all yelling I AM THE LORD OF SWEEPING and doing the same thing...etc Billy Sheehan just reinforced that vibe that i was feelin for 9 years now:D
I've been watching Billy since he played the bars of Buffalo with Paul Varga and Dave Constantino in the band Talas, an amazing band. If you can still find their CD's or albums...buy them !!! Billy is one of the best bassists ever and maybe the best rock bass player and he has the attitude liike the guy next door...very humble.
im not a bass player. But this man is fucking fantastic to watch. im so glad he was the bassist of mr big. Thats a cool bass too. Hope he points me out with that laser one day. haha.
He has a Hipshot D-Tuner that with the flick of a lever drops his E to a D and then he bends the neck of his bass forward thus dropping the tuning even more.
i saw billy sheehan play at club infinity at williamsville last night with ted and tom reinhardt from gamalon and also constantino... i talked to him after the show and it was frickin awesome, plus he is a really nice dude
That's because the mic that picks up his voice, picks also the sound of the string hitting the neck, it's like playing with the amp off-line. Well, that's my opinion.
Great Personality Hes Great As A Man As A Musician And As Both

That is cool that he plays the prodution model.

i think the real cool thing here is the fact that you can buy a bass like his, you don't have to customize the shit out of it.

The laser is tight, but the LEDs are amazing. I wish I had some on my bass, but I heard it's pretty hard to install them by yourself.

Hes using a small portable amp i think, thats why =] he normally has 2 amps one for low and another for high, and it does sound very bassy ^^
MrMaiden 5 years ago
His bass does sound like crap.. but he plays damn well nonetheless
AARONSOFAT 5 years ago
I think I know what you mean. I'm more used to Bass guitars sounding all funk. He treats it more like a heavy metal lead guitar.
