i have a 1997 nissan maxima, my friend swears up and down that his 06 tiburon gt will destroy my car, he is ignorant enough to say a trailblazer would beat it, but anyway i have thought about swappin a vq35de into my maxima, my car is an automatic, would it be wise to keep an automatic or try to find a manual 2002 or 1997 maxima to race with, and if i keep the 97 what would i need to do in order for the swap to be successful?

Depends, find an engine. I don't pay for labor I do all my work myself so I couldn't tell ya.

are u using the 6 speed or 5 speed? i really want to do this swap in my 96 5 spd SE

@ivorton23 I am currently running the stock 98 5spd non-LSD. I plan on going with the 6spd HLSD when the current transmission fails. And my advice, DO THIS SWAP!

all vq35 dont just burn oil! its the early 02-04 engines, you havent heard the 05+ with those probs. for the feeling and reliability after years of punshisment i will take an ring damaged vq35 any day. i got 126K on my 02 and i aint gettin rid of it ever!!

hey dude is that vq35 using a vq30 timing?because from what i heard supercharging a vq35 cannot be done because of the timing cover on the engine.

you have to adjust the timing.

Very nice, just need to tint the widnow a bit, its more of a sleeper with stock rims but uglier to imho. but great build...
