  • well a 12 gauge is like gettin punched in the sholder, not hard but hard enough. and a 243 is like haveing ur little sister slap you, it doesnt hurt but it makes ur eyes blink. ive shot a 375 magnum! that was like having a boxer punch your arm. luckily i only had to shoot it once. lol 3 inch groups at 200 yards? that pretty suckish, not insult, it might be the gun. i have a model 700 classic in 243 and i can shoot 1/4 inch groups at 300 yards with that. but ive had a lot of range time. see yah

  • @GAMOkid26

1/4 inch groups at 300 yards? Before anyone makes such a claim be prepared to prove it. Anyone making such a claim either doesn't know what 300 yards looks like or is stuck shooting a Gamo pellet rifle.....

  • @abolt2owner a .243 is capable of sub moa past 500yrds dependin on 3 factors.

    1 rifle quality,2 match ammo, 3 shooter

  • @GAMOkid26 i got a 7600 with iron sights on it and shooting cold offhand i can hit 2 out of 4 on a mansized target from 202 yards

  • How much more does a .243 kick compared to a 12 gauge birdshot?

  • @Tristin471 Very similar, depending on the rifle. Most light 12 gauge loads in a heavier or gas operated gun don't have too much recoil. Heavy waterfowl loads will recoil considerably more. A .243 or 6mm is very pleasant to shoot with little recoil. It does kick, but unless your very small framed or sensitive to the muzzle blast, you shouldn't find it offensive.

  • @Tristin471 its hard to compare those two guns because rifles and shotguns recoil different to me the .243 has more of a push and the 12 gauge has more of a hit type recoil but really when i am shooting i dont feel either one

  • Try it about 1000 yards. it will go even farther then that. a 243 can go about 3-4 miles

  • is this round suitable for coyoes???

  • @jar288

    Yes.

  • Plummersimon. You'll be just fine with a .243

  • Great job man. The .243 is great. It shoots strait every shot. I have a video up of me shooting a tannerite target. View and rate plzz.

  • Does anyone know why some people said the high-power rifle shots that killed JKF were difficult? Elevated and from behind the travelling direction of the car about 50m to 80m away. Doesn't sound difficult to me...?

  • @wikichris thats cause your probably some little fag who just plays call of duty so much and is just like the other 10 million brainwashed faggots that think their is a turret under a harrier. if you accualy had any Experience shooting any kind of rifle you would think other wise

  • @goodnightChesty1775 So you think that's really difficult? I was asking. As a medium distance shot there are much more difficult ones I could think of. Maybe you should explain your reasoning before insulting people.

  • @wikichris alright im sorry. but when you fire a rifle exsepashaly a .243 the round does not fly in a straight line like most people think it goes up and back down on the target. and lee harvey was shooting from an elevated position firing at a moving target theirs alot variables to think of there

  • .243is the best calibre around for multi purpose huntin, i only take roe and foxes with mine but it does them good , and mate why not try reloadin ur own rounds , i used to use factory loads and shooot decent groups but if u reload urself an get it jus right , theyre absolutely spot on !

  • I love my .243. I shot a ground hog between the eyes with it at range finder confirmed 332, and killed a deer that ran no further than 20 feet at a hair short of 400 (394).

  • im 12 and i shoot 3 inch groups at 200 yards with my .243 this gun has never let me down.

  • That's better then I can shoot. Good job bud.

  • Would u recommend this over the .308, i shot deer and fox, well im upgrading soon???

  • @phoenix1916 they are deadly on deer, don't listen to these guys that say they are too light, they have prolly never shot one. the .308 will leave you with nothing when you shoot the fox believe me

  • Good Job Man. Just remember to keep it safe. What kind of 243 do you have?

  • haha the first shot i thought he was shooting at ''the deer'' underneath the bottles lol. it kinda looks like a deer right under the white portion of the target lol

  • to many 243,s on herre

  • Im 15, havnt shot that many guns. I mean besides handguns and stuff like that. I will be whitetail hunting and i was wondering if i should get a 270 or 243, does the 243 got enough power or what? Thanks for the help.

  • It has plenty of power. Get your rifle, shoot alot at the range and get practiced up and you'll get your deer.

  • i have both a 243 and a 270. 243 is a very versitile round. it can take gophers when your bored and ive taken deer with it. i actually use my 270 for elk each year. so really, as abolt2owner said, yes 243 has enough power, just make sure you get a heavier grain.

  • sup man im 15 too and have a 243. yea it does have the power to take down a deer. last year i got my first deer whith a 243,, it did the job. but if ur desiding between a 243 and 270 id go whit the 270, because the 270 is stronger and has ammo of low and high grain. the highest grain i could find on a 243 is 100.....

  • u can get 115 if you reload...

  • im 15 also and i have a 243 WSSM browning and i hunt whitetails and it has more then enough power. ive shot deer from 250 yards and they dropped where they stood. my brother shot a deer at 170 and it also dropped it all depends on your shot. my friend has a 30-06 and he shot a deer at 40 yards and it almost got away.

  • I've been shooting a 243 sense I started hunting when I was thirteen and it's never let me down before. The max distance I've had to shoot thought was ninety yards out. but most of my shots I've had to make were through a lot of tree growth. It has the accuracy and distance that I need to make the kill, though it doesn't always bring them down.

  • do you think that a 14 year old would be able to handle this rifle?

  • Without a doubt.

  • they seem to be a good starter rifle for people of about that age, maybe a bit to powerful for a younger person, but thats what i started with.

  • Most definitely. .243s are accurate, strong enough to take hunting if you're hunting white tail and the recoil is very small for what you get so it's not likely to create bad shooting habits (aka flinching)

  • yea its ideal for a 14 year old

  • Nice shooting man. I hope to get a .243Win at some point, it seems like the perfect hunting caliber out there. But that's just my personal opinion.

  • Definitely one of the top ones, personally I like the .270 Win a little more for hunting and the .243 a little more when I'm target shooting but they both get the job done extremely efficiently.

  • I'm getting a Tikka T3 Lite SS soon and am not sure what sort of calibre to get. Tossing up between .243WIN .270WIN and .308WIN. I'll be mainly shooting roo's. What do you fella's think?

  • How big is a kangaroo? I would probably pick a .270 simply because the T3 is a long action rifle anyways and it offers a little mre versatility than the .243 and shoots a bit flatter than the .308.

  • I dont know how heavy a roo is but I'd say probably a .270. I probably wouldnt get a .243 if the roo's weigh more than 100 pounds, I have no problems hunting 80 pound (I think that's about 35 kilos) white tail but I think the caliber is too small for anything much larger. I dont have enough experience with a .308 to offer much of an opinion on it.

  • @plummersimon 1. NEVER mention roo shooting unless you have tags. its illegal and people surf pages to find blokes like you who write that. 243 is cheaper and i have shot foxes out at 400yards with my wetherby 243. 270 and 308 just get too pricy with ammo. even a 223 will do the job and is about 80c a shot...compared to $1.20 for 243.

  • @TruebluAussie Thanks mate. I ended up getting a .308. I guess I err'd on the side of a larger calibre just in case haha. Ammo cost isn't something I'm worried about as I don't go that often. It's a great gun. Fair bit of kick but my god is that thing accurate. I've got a 3-9x40 Bushnell Elite scope on it which goes great but I might get something with a little more magnification soon. My mate just picked up the same gun but in .223.

  • everyone just hates us cause weve kicked everyones ass since the 1700s, and just cause i knw someone will say something vietnam was a lost cause to most americans. and id be ashamed to say im from a country thats ancestors were all criminals. and the middle east is full of pussys that cant fight for shit besides hiding their little bombs, id like to see them be real men and give us a target. damn ragheads

  • you know what i am fucking proud to be amercican so shut the hell up about id rather be brainwashed then be american so be happy what fucking country you live in no matter if its shithole iraq or any other country

  • I think you misstyped.

You should have said that YOU SUCKED 243 dicks

  • Funny, I heard the same thing about you.

  • "oh your from the bad lands aka Australia.

Figures you know nothing about firearms considering your government has brainwashed you."

  • i sooner be brainwashed then be an american

  • yeah i'm aussie, and i do think the government has brain washed us its quite sad, because the country is falling apart.

  • id rather be a fuckin aussie then a stupid american hick

  • What kind of aussie is a Fahrken Aussie?

Is that like Fahrvergnügen German?? :)

  • what the fuck is your problem asshole? you dont have a right to call us a fucking hick. youve got fucking issues if your going to call somone a hick in a country you dont live in you inferior euro asshole. suck my dick and make your goverment better. fucker.

  • i shot a racoon with one of those from 10 feet.

  • Why didn't you just take off your shoe and throw at him? :)

  • it was a really big racoon

  • abolt2owner

You are arguing with a semi-intelligent waterjug, except the ones you were shooting have at least served 2 purposes in their lives.

  • I wouldn't call you stupid. But I would like definitions of the following:

    stuiped.

    wat.

    hav.

    wouldent.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

  • Dude, learn some fucking English.

  • oh your from the bad lands aka Australia.

Figures you know nothing about firearms considering your government has brainwashed you.

  • oh shit theres no such thing as a 9mm lens? wow i must have gotten ripped off on my scope that i bought !!

    haha your so dumb latter...

  • is that why we have had numerous olympic shooting gold medalist from Australia

  • You should here what you sound like. Educate yourself before making a fool out of yourself.

  • replace those water bottles with coyotes

  • I'll see what I can do. ;)

  • Perhaps you with your super knowledge could explain how optical sights work. 3x9 would actually represent a 3 power with a 9mm objective lens. Same as if you had a 10x40 binocular. In reality, 3-9 (3 to 9) represents 3 to 9 power maginifacation. Or what you probably refer to as zoom, which it is not. Dickhead.

  • The only way you could appear more like a tool, is to post your comments with in crayon.

Get back on the short bus, and wait for your share of the proceeds from the latest "Jerry's Kid's" telethon.

  • Maybe you are jealous because your government took your guns away from you. Your people should get together and fight back for your rights.

  • I would not let anyone take my rifles and handguns. The only way the goverment is getting my guns is from my cold dead hands.

  • Sounds like a great idea :)

  • abolt2 may be a dickhead, but at least he is a dickhead with his guns in his possesion. Hey, latter67 go a set of balls and ask for your guns back !!!!

  • ahahaha damn man i use same gun and ammo but not all the time i like my 30-06 180 sometimes but 150 mostly too but the 243 is a awsome gun ive hit a 250 yard target(not free hand) great gun! wut kind of scope u use? 3x9?

  • Leupold 3-9. The '06 is a great cartridge as well. I've got a ton of ammo, but no rifle left to shoot it. Perhaps another could be on the horizon...

  • What gun and ammo you using?

  • Remington 700 BDL S/S, in .243 Winchester. The ammo is factory bought 100 grain Power Points.
