I can't tell where the F chord is played by looking at his fingers, its a totally different F chord from what I'm used to.

This is a pretty decent tutorial. These are relatively basic chords. If you can't tell what they are by looking at his left hand, y'all just need to practice more and get more familiar with chord structures. Learning this way will get easier once you clock in a more few hours, promise. :)
