@BKKaye arm as hard as a steel pipe ain't conditioned enough for you? truth is fight doesn't suppose to last more than a minute, a real fight ends in seconds.
as a practitioner of kung fu for many years and also working in the scientific field i dont think one can generalise to say all arts can cause arthritis as if anything in my experience it can actually help and prevent arthritis by strengthening bones/joints/tendons and if you look carefully in the video clips they are not hitting on the wrist joints!
Point taken. In that case it is not advisable to do this exercise as it damages the blood capillaries, and in some cases over time cause blood clots which could lead to premature strokes. Any conditioning that damages capillaries surely by logic cannot be good for the circulation as a whole.
I have known Sifu Yap Leong for 17 years, in which time I have seen him demonstrate many techniques to me. The internal power he posses is extreme and very functional, when compared to a lot of other martial arts that lack true internal power.
His knowledge and skill is of a very high standard and if you want to learn an art which is street functional and very effective in dealing with single opponents or multiple attackers then this is it.
i can feel the bodybuilders pain from here!amazing how sifu yap leong seems to effortlessly generate awesome power with minimal movement and penetrate the big bodybuilers arms, defies biophysics! and thats from a medical perspective!
They are knocking limbs quite hard, but they're both experiencing equal force. The reason Jap Leong's partner gives up is that it hurts him a lot more than it does the sifu, which is down to 40 years of conditioning (and, if you believe it, stronger chi).
Mr singh you miss the point, the video shows how through his experience and training Sifu Yap Leong has developed a softness and internal force that can defeat, someone who is significantly bigger and structurely heavier than himself. incidently the power lifter also trains in Kung fu
But can they fight? and I bet the ol' chin hasn't been conditioned

That is why practitioners use liniment to restore circulation and heal brusing before it starts.
The limbs are not struck until the capillaries burst.
That would be stupid and I have seen karateka and some kung fu guys do this.
Conditioning takes time and trying to become an iron man overnight only injures one.

As our lives and survival dont depend on kung fu anymore this type of conditioning serves little more other than to accelerate the onset of arthritis

Sifu Yap Leong is about 60 years of age - and he is far from arthritic.

The Master, Yap Leong is 60 yeard old and no arthritis.

No pain- no gain! I can see how effective Sifu Leong's technique is from his partner's reaction!

lets se yap leong bench press with this guy, who would press more?
my point is the body builder is not a kung fu guy. so obviously hes gonna get hurt,
so the point of this video was basically nothing.
