  • What a great legacy of music he left. RIP my hometown friend.

  • i share his birthday - am honoured to do so.. : )))

  • R.I.P. Pinetop almost 99y/o... God Bless you.

  • Hey guys be sure to buy Pinetop Perkins new album called, Joined At The Hip: Pinetop Perkins & Willie "Big Eyes" Smith. I bought it in June when it first came out and love it!

  • I saw him last night at Pocono blues Fest, 97 years old! along with Hubert Sumlin and Bob Stroger as well as Willie Big Eyes Smith. Amazing show, they blew my mind.

  • Pinetop performed at the Blues Fest in Chicago two weeks ago, wish I could have gotten out of work to see him. GOD BLESS PINETOP PERKINS!!!

  • I saw him @ Nuno's (Austin) Saturday!

  • He's still at it. Saw him at Nuno's last nite, Mon 7-20-09.

  • Pinetop is definitely alive and (hopefully) well. He was at Nuno's on 6th street in Austin, TX last Friday night (9/19/08)

  • my idea of assisted living.

  • It's wonderful to see this great musician celebrating his birthday. I didn't know till recently that he worked for years with musician Muddy Waters. His picture is in our today's paper wearing a white tux and top hat along with a nice interview with him At age 95 this month he will be doing a show at the Music Masters Festival here in Kentucky this month. He will be playing his Pinetop Boogie Woogie and will have a standing room only crowd I imagine. Thanks for posting. - Paula

  • I wish I could have been there!

  • Is the dude still alive?

  • Very much so, and playing still as good as ever

  • In the documentary Blues from the Backroads. From 2003, it said he was dead and I think it was a mistake.

  • Definately a mistake, I saw him in 2006 myself lol, his health is deteriorating as you would expect for a guy his age, but he still performs, and I guess he will do until he is physically unable to !!!

  • Pinetop was very much alive as of August 23rd at the Edmonton Bluesfest....he rocked the joint.

  • Just put out another album! Can you imagine at 95?

  • i hope i can still get around at 94 if i can even last that long. lol.

    nice posting. thanks

  • I was there and saw this in person as well. :) It was cute, yeah it took a cake to get Mr. Perkins off that piano bench.

  • It was great to be able to help Pinetop celebrate his 94th birthday at the Waterfont Blues Festival in Portland, OR on the 4th of July. He's quite the showman. He didn't want to stop playing his set when they brought out the cake. The great blues guitarist Hubert Sumlin is holding Pinetop's cake, and Lurie Bell is singing to Pintetop. What fun!

    Thanks for posting this! -kacey144
