Hey guys be sure to buy Pinetop Perkins new album called, Joined At The Hip: Pinetop Perkins & Willie "Big Eyes" Smith. I bought it in June when it first came out and love it!
I saw him last night at Pocono blues Fest, 97 years old! along with Hubert Sumlin and Bob Stroger as well as Willie Big Eyes Smith. Amazing show, they blew my mind.
It's wonderful to see this great musician celebrating his birthday. I didn't know till recently that he worked for years with musician Muddy Waters. His picture is in our today's paper wearing a white tux and top hat along with a nice interview with him At age 95 this month he will be doing a show at the Music Masters Festival here in Kentucky this month. He will be playing his Pinetop Boogie Woogie and will have a standing room only crowd I imagine. Thanks for posting. - Paula
Definately a mistake, I saw him in 2006 myself lol, his health is deteriorating as you would expect for a guy his age, but he still performs, and I guess he will do until he is physically unable to !!!
It was great to be able to help Pinetop celebrate his 94th birthday at the Waterfont Blues Festival in Portland, OR on the 4th of July. He's quite the showman. He didn't want to stop playing his set when they brought out the cake. The great blues guitarist Hubert Sumlin is holding Pinetop's cake, and Lurie Bell is singing to Pintetop. What fun!
What a great legacy of music he left. RIP my hometown friend.

In the documentary Blues from the Backroads. From 2003, it said he was dead and I think it was a mistake.
