  • Hennessy just needs to design thier own down/synthetic underquilts similar to Warbonnet's or JrB's.

  • Just an idea. How about putting a heat reflective side on the pad for cold weather and keep the other side the same for cooler weather instead of having to put a space blanket on top of the pad? Or even sew in the reflective material on the inside of the super shelter........

  • It's good to hear criticisms of the pad vs. underquilt. It sounds like there are fans of both methods, each of which offers different speed/cost/effectiveness/weight advantages. I'm likely to make something. The quilt looks promising, but this pad looks OK as well. Easy to make, it appears.

I think the sensation of "time consuming" when watching a two-part video contributes to the feeling this is a hassle. After learning it, it seems like it'd install quick. Maybe.

  • As much as I love my HH that is a lot of stuffing about to keep a bit warmer. I am fortunate to own 7 sleeping bags so I just take the one best rated for the time of year I am using the hammock. I am in the military so speed and ease is essential for setup and take down in the jungle. Carrying that extra gear makes things just that more complex.

  • Is there even any need for insulation in a tropical environment?

  • Not quite sure what to think of the undercover and underpad. They look like a lot of trouble to set up, more so than an underquilt. I need to get something for my Explorer Deluxe as colder temps have set in.
