@koolhk I'm sorry to barge in like this. but I personally think we cant compare Ayumi and Kumi because they are having different types of promotional image. Ayumi gives more of a clean cut image while Kumi have the ero-kakkoi and kawai style. Ayumi went to New York before hand for vocal training hence her English is more fluent. But I can say both Ayumi and Kumi have their own specialty and hold their own records. Avex produces the stars of Japan.

@InnerRise Part 1: If you researched some facts you would know Ayumi released 3 singles this year because it was the road to her fiftieth single. She now has 50 singles and is the female artist with the most consistent number one's(she has had 25 number one singles in a row).

I never said Utada wasn't popular but her popularity has declinded a fair bit, i'm pretty sure Utada isn't the most popular singer in Japan and isn't the most talked about.

Ayumi's more recent single "L" also beat Kumi's "Suki, Suki, Suki/Anata Dake ga" single (they were both released on the same day).

Like I said with Utada, there is nothing wrong with Ayumi but facts have shown she has sold more and is more popular.
