  • @mat386 Everyone on the Letterman Show is on Acid.

  • someone accidently hit the dislike button!

  • Has it really been 17 years? Where has the time gone? Where has the good music gone?

  • @bjorn2run where has the time gone? I ask myself that every day

  • I love this Woman.. esta mujer es la mas hermosa sobre la faz de la tierra..

  • Cool thanks for sharing!!!!!

  • Praise the Lord !

  • thnks for that ...

  • So simple. Untouchable.

  • Love the guitar solo

  • OH man... That was greeeat!

  • Jim Morrison doing the male vocal here would be amazing, in my opinion.

  • @darling67 Can I come too?

  • I love how she just stands all still and innocent and turns her head. x3 so kyoot

  • Pose for me at 1:38. Thank you.

  • Two notoriously stage shy singers tremble together in the spotlight! Jim Reid said he always had to get very drunk to get up the nerve to sing live - often doing but a very short set.

Hope: "Live, I just get really nervous. Once you're on-stage, you're expected to perform. I don't do that. I always feel awkward about just standing there and not speaking to the audience. It's difficult for me."

    -I love Hope's voice,but I don't like Reid's or his phony American twang accent. He's Scottish.

  • 80s , 90s rock,, justin bieber sux

  • Jesus and Mary chain, I salute u. One of my favorite bands EVER

  • ha! I knew it was Hope singing in this track! I wish I would have bet cash money.

  • I just realized Norah Jones sounds alot like Hope Sandoval...

  • His mic is waay too hot. Otherwise, decent rendition.

  • Ugh fucking 90's and its awesome bands and songs. Before fucking autotune and boring bland repetitive unorignal horribly written music.

  • Now, I have always loved The Jesus and Mary Chain. They gave me hope and then, later on, they gave me Hope, which was even better.

  • she is beautiful inside and out

  • this would be better if shane mcgowan was doing the male vocal

  • how hot is he!!!

  • Again.. Fucking brilliant!

  • what a great song, i feel like i'm 15 again.

  • Quality tune.

  • an angel on stage

  • great one

  • yeah - great song - i'm a long-time JMC fan... but c'mon, Hope Sandoval in a short, black patent leather dress... WOW!!!

  • @upchilled I know what you mean. She looks beautiful in whatever she is wearing at any time. But this is indeed....WOW!!!

  • @PilatusPorterPC6 Yeah.. and he got to fuck her :)

  • does anybody knows the lyrics???? i can´t find the lyrics...plzzz

  • what´s the tittle of this beautiful song plzzzzz?????

  • @ThePorcelan Sometimes always

  • She is really pretty.

  • I Love Hope Sandoval! great video thanks for posting.

  • It's about the music, not the fame for Hope it seems. She always holds her arm back like that. Sweet

  • 2:22

  • I was watchin Hope and the warm inventions and thought it sounded like sh e could sing with the JAMchain so was surprised when this came up on suggestions not complainin bought head 7 inch just like honey12" and have got the 2 good mazzy albums

  • yada yada yada.....call it what ever you want..truth is she has a boring stage presence

  • @TheTwistedGypsy

ehhh, a powerful stage presence is overrated anyhow. she pulls the still thing

    off pretty well I'd say

  • no she has a new album out

  • good for her and her family. ;

  • WHAT???? are you joking?

  • a position you could only dream off you fucking loser shit

  • Is that the language you learn in college, monkey-boy? ?

  • "Sometimes Always"

    you're welcome!

  • What is the name of this song?

  • Sometimes Always

  • she roks

  • She was such a bitch to her fans last night at her gig in Ireland. I was soooo disappointed. She acted like an obnoxious diva ;-(

  • She is painfully shy when it comes to performing. She may come off as aloof, but obnoxious? What did you expect, a dance routine?

  • Aloof? There's a difference between aloof and plain rude. She told a girl in the crowd who was in love with her and simply said "I love you Hope" that she was distracting her. Puh-lease! Also, the entire crowd were told that if anyone attempted to take a photo, they would be removed from the venue. Get over yourself Hope, you're hardly a superstar these days.

  • @airmiami shit i honestly hate it when people scream i love you while someone is trying to perform...yeah i get it but it IS distracting...some people don't just sing songs to make money, it's an experience...sometimes hard to replicate...and maybe she doesn't want to be a "superstar" or whatever...obviously she digs her privacy...i would too

  • Yes SHY is not a big enought word.. She has stage fright. How she performs I have no idea. I saw her at I think it was the First or second Lallapaloza tour back in 92. What a great time the 90s were

  • Awesome!!!

  • Yeah, I think Jim gave her some of his heroin.

  • Jim and Hope! A match made in heaven!!!

  • i melt.

  • actually maybe better...

  • Beautiful. Almost as good a duet as McGowan and O'Connor doing "Haunted".

  • Uhhhh

Excelente version, me encanto este aporte...

    saludos!

  • She SO doesn't care. God, I'm in love!

  • She's so...otherworldly.

  • great f@#king post!!

  • she is quite beautiful to watch singing.

  • I dont' usually like female singers fr some reason, but oh god, those two voices are BEAUTIFUL together.

  • Shoe gazing singers that sing a love song to each other. i get a kick outta Hope's facial expressions every time I watch this one. 1994 can I go back?

  • yer totally wrong dude . this song was designed for the beauty HOPE .BUTJAMC

IS ONE OF THE BEST BANDS EVER .--CHECK OUT THE ALBUMS "AUTOMATIC"

& "HONEY"S DEAD" THOSE DUDES ROCK! BETTER THAN 99% OF WHAT PASSES FOR MUSIC TTODAY. --THE LATE 80'S & EARLY 90S WAS rocks last

    GOLDEN AGE

  • Dear qowpe, it seems that you don't know the history of the (so called) singer.

  • its a duet ffs. And jim&hope is a perfect combination to this song.

  • Jackass.

  • I have been a fan of JAMC since I first heard their music 20+ years ago. And this song is one of my many favorites by them.

  • Man o man...Hope is stunningly beautiful!

  • roback must have hated this guy - i think he's a dick

  • the guitarist behind hope (w. reid), he basically stole roback's woman (hope) from him

  • thanks.. luv...luv

  • great quality ... ty... good work

  • 200% babe.

  • The opening rift is reminiscent of Velvet Underground . . . but of course that is one of Mazzy Star's influences - Paisley underground.

  • I'm waiting for my Mannequin

  • @toiroforcado You´re right the riffts are similar like velvet underground

  • @wowsera yeah but it's Jesus and Mary Chain who are the main writers here... Hope Sandoval just plays and writes music with whoever she's fucking at the time.

  • I sometimes think Hope is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. I like her calm presents when she sings.

  • While she has always exuded a calm presence (notice how still she stands at the microphone, and yet she seems to speak/mouth the microphone), she has always admitted to be very stage shy; which is why she always preferred to do live shows with the audience lights off. Nevertheless, she seems to have endured plenty of shows with live "lit" audiences and got through unscathed . . . or maybe not, perhaps this is why she "retired" from touring . . .

She dated a guitarist in JAMC for a while

  • What ever reason she hasn't put out much music in the last couple of years, I hope she comes back to music. The 90s were way different musically then it is now, but I think there is still an audience for her music. I still love this stuff the best and always had good memories from watching bands like this on 120 Minutes and Alternative Nation in the early 90s. Bavarian Fruit Bread is a favorite album of mine.

  • I think the Hollywood DisneyWits have taken over the music industry post Nirvana age. Get the kids into prepubescent crappy music early without options and so then theirs nothing after, so then they can sell them insurance and other high priced items as they won't be listening to music anymore except on video game software. HAHAHAHAHAH I just distilled the new century of music in a sentence!! The nineties still had what was left of Rock And Roll gusto!

  • I would agree although indie music is still were it's at for me. It was getting bad for a while but there is some really good stuff coming out now. I'm glad I'm not a kid these days because alot of corporations like Disney are shoving music down kid's throats as you say. I could say it was different when I was a teen, but you still had stuff like the New Kids. But, there was better stuff like Mazzy Star and Nirvana, also. It's funny to play this stuff and kids are like "who is this? I like it."

  • I was playing this back now and noticed a Youtube anomally with the sound. I think that Youtube has started decoding or uncoding the sound. The HQ version sound is less dynamic but the original sound in Normal Q has sonic flaring. It was not like this a couple of months ago. This screws up my recordings from back then. I don't know it has to do with my original HiFi VCR settings or what? It definitely SOUNDs better in normal though, despite the sonic flaring

  • I'm a guy. I wonder what Hope's dress is made out of? Me likey! It looks like plastic. Can any of the girls out there tell me?

  • I think its candy coated like Smarties or M&Ms

  • Looks like stretch PVC to me

  • Or PU - polyurethane

  • I don't know what her dress is made of at that time. But I've noticed that she tended to perform in minidresses and skirts; in fact, I have only seen her in jeans on a few photos.

  • Hope Sandoval is FINE! Oh and the song is cool too...

  • A great song, never seen this clip before. Well worth the wait. Hope is so beautiful.

  • Cute shiny dress, she looks like a little doll!

  • Bellissimo!

  • Nice intro also from David Letterman when he still had hair on his head :-)

  • The song is called "Sometimes Always", from their 1994 album "Stoned and Dethroned".

  • whats this song called ?

  • I am shattered...William uses a capo!

    Cheater!

  • se agradece la excelente calidad del video

  • ha, recorded off of cfmt. From southern ontario?

  • she is a worldwide treausure

  • 1:59 and 2:02. I love you Hope! <3

  • Yeah 2.02. It's good she doesn't live near me; she'd have to get a restraining order.

  • I'm not a kid anymore, but i still love this!

  • I agree, she's awesome

  • Awesome, thanks very much for posting....two greta bands here.

  • Love it. Thanks for posting it. Sandoval voice is a heaven on earth.

  • I love the static on the top of her hair at the beginning, just gives me extra goosebumps! Watch in HQ

  • What happens when ONE of the MOST ENCHANTING female voices and ONE of the MOST INNOVATIVE post punk bands EVER collide?

The Scottish (Glasgow-based) noise pop quintet invited Hope Sandoval (Mazzy Star / H.S. & The Warm Inventions) to a duet for the beauteous "Sometimes Always", here, live in the U.S.

BTW, The Jesus And Mary Chain will be performing in LIMA (November 6th '08)! THANX to Automatic Entertainment 'cos this will be a BLAST !!!!!

  • Your Welcome ! I wish I could see them in Peru too!

  • 最高です!

    また復活すればいいのに

    (Mazzystarの方)

  • For Sure!

  • 私はそれらがあるより健全なよいと彼女によってが全く伝説である希望を、彼女作る彼女が行う誰でもを愛する

    Fat Wang

  • Agreed! I'll put up an earlier performance from JAMC from same show soon!

  • How come there was no Pussycat Dolls back then?

Or even Spice Girls, were still a couple of years in the future. This was a better time. Remember Nirvana playing the MTV awards ? and not a Pussy cat Dolls like now? Its embarrasing but the music scene has NO shame, since Disney took it over, at the beginning of the decade.

  • sometime in the mid-90s viacom bought MTV, then gobbled up radio stations (KROQ and many many more), then viacom chopped up music into 3 genres (tweenie pop, punk pop, and hip-hop) and blasted these thru MTV and radio.. Disney came in later to ruin things more by competing with viacom by creating a boy band & pop slut machine thus creating what we have now.. TOTAL BULLSHIT!!!

  • Thats right radio is where it all went wrong at the beginning of the process. The format shit is bad. Remember when Lennon died, all the radio stations played his songs. Many years later Harrison died and there was like one station playing (not Beatles or Harrison) but Traveling Wilburies in the city. Times like that remind me that this industry is a crime.

  • amen brother

  • wow - i surprised it's taken this long for someone to post this...got on VHS but no DVD...god job!

  • This is from VHS. 1994 was pre DVD

  • Hope Sandoval is awesome <3. :)

  • Yeah i recorded this when it first aired in 1994...but I never got it tranferred to DVD - thanks for posting a nice quality version!
