Good video. This is indeed a powerful exercise, especially for blending the registers and recognizing mixed voice. When I do this, I have trouble blending in (and blending out) the chest resonance. I get a strange combination of "register fighting" for control rather than a nice smooth transition which you have. Do you have any suggestions?
Delighted to hear from you about my new lesson and on the subject of breath control as well.
This lesson at my Baldwin upright was video-taped in one 7 or 8 minute session by simply turning on a camcorder (with tripod) ~ then edited down to approximately 4 1/2 minutes.
I mainly feel the correct voice "placement" when singing and did not notice anything uncomfortable turning to speak or sing toward the camera ~ but you are very observant!
I guess you feel the correct placement ("l'imposto vocale", right?) even in that posture, due to your breath control. I know a quote in Italian: "Chi respira bene canta bene."
Thanks for your friend invite, I'll go click on "Accept" right now. Let me know if you post any more of your lessons. It is fascinating.
The "respira bene" quote you sent pertains to Support and we might conclude that the two Main Categories of acoustical (classical) singing are: PLACEMENT & SUPPORT.
However, there is a lot more to this training ~ that is fun (and as you indicated: fascinating!) information ~ than only two items: such as
CONSONANTS used with VOWELS and THIN opposed to THICK.
And, of course, one of Corelli's favorites: the DIMINUENDO.
2. All that speaking must have fatigued your voice like heck. Or did you record the singing separately from the speaking and then they "glued" the sequences at 1:13, 2:23, 3:07, and 3:57?
1. You sing in a very tormenting posture, your head and body half twisted toward the camera: was the cameraman stupid and he tortured you, or did you do it on purpose to prove that you can do this too due to your amazing breath control ? (I still remember that video of yours about breath control, very impressive)
Your comment(s) very much appreciated ~ this splendid exercise works equally well for female voices (contralto, mezzo-soprano & soprano), which are exactly one-octave higher.

Been doing it about a week and I still sound like a teenage going thru puberty the way my voice cracks when I try to bring in the chest resonance.
