If the condenser is faulty, it might be worth putting elec ignition (£30 from ebay). I intend to do this on my 1960 Zephyr. But if the ignition light is on it usually means that your dynamo/alternator isn't workig. That might be the problem - are you getting flat batteries a lot?
@superflymofo ignition light has been on for ages...with no big side effect, but zodiac alweays had problems starting when hot.i got a new coil from John Enticknap at the club last year, but no change,i will check condenser.I'd like to buy an electronic ignition, that would solve all problems, but don't know how to set it right. AND YES, ME TOO, CAN'T GET RID OF THE ZEPHYR ZODIAC SYNDROME, ONCE YOU'RE HOOKED....
thank you for your email.the zodiac is really a lot of fun. i even found a red and white suitcase to go with it!! i'll let you know if i get too old and have to part with it.
You are very lucky to have such a beautiful car. I would love to own a MKII Zodiac, preferebly red/white and automatic transmission. Let me know if you ever decide to sell. Unlikely I know, but if you don't ask.......
@superflymofo right , i figured that could be a problem, light never goes off, but problems arise when car is hot, i did change the coil, brand new, but still, when car is hot, it will stall and not start for a while.i am almost sure it's the faulty condenser, but ..any clues ?? thanks for comment
@HITHEREFOLKS I'd doubt it'd be the condensor, but it's worth dropping an electronic ignition in there, I plan to do this on my 1960 Zephyr. (£30 from ebay) The ignition light might not mean it isn't charging but that's the most obvious reason for being on - do you get a flat battery a lot? I love my Zephyr, and wont ever part with it.
