Once Plant became a Honey Dipper, it was all over. Page continued to make music. Led Zeppelin was dead. No reunion could bring them back. No more making more Page and Plant music.
Many thanks for posting this. Interesting that the key was lowered so Robert could sing it. As far as I'm concerned, Zeppelin could do "Good Times Bad Times" in any key and still sound fucking fantastic. Anyone know whether Jason used a double bass pedal or played it with one foot?
like everyone else i woulda loved to have seen zeppelin get back together and tour, ive been a die hard fan since i was a kid in the early 80,s, but i respect plants decision not to tour, he couldnt do it for 40 or 50 gigs world wide anymore! he had surgery in the late 70,s to fix his voice, and if you listen its never been the same!! he sounds good here but after a few dates of having to sing zeppelin songs his voice would give! hes in his early 60,s!!!and thats why he turned it down! ZEP!!!!!
@ozzyhead73 Sorry but that's not correct. Robert Plant has hinted and led people on for years...will they get back together or not. He has repeatedly flip-flopped and I have heard him go from insisting that he would not to hinting that he would. They did have talks after O2 so he was considering it.
I remember being devasted when John Bonham passed was really happy to have Led Zepplin as a part of my youth with all the changes taken place around the world.
@DHarri9977 I feel the same way. I remember the day he died. Uggh. My favorite band. I loved those guys and that music was a soundtrack to much of my youth.
@nholt A friend of mine was at this show and he said by the end of the show Plant was spent. He might not have the stamina for a show like this anymore..jus an opinion.
@da324 Actually, Robert Plant said so himself in an interview since he had planned on a second album and had more touring in the states with her that he planned to do. Obviously there are deeper reasons than that, but that is one of the reasons he stated.
Unfortunately he probably doesnt need the money, don't forget this was a charity gig. Most of the other "reunion" tours were more fundraisers than for the fans benefit. Sad
@1105Chance Robert Plant didnt do a tour becuz john bonham was his friend. hes the one who brought john b into the band. without john bonham there is no led zeppelin, same with the others in the band :)
@xxUrFaceLOLxx No...Robert Plant hinted on various occasions that they may get back together. He was pretty much a tease, giving out very cryptic responses when asked. I am sure there were a variety of factors, but it was not because of John Bonham.
@xxUrFaceLOLxx Robert Plant and John Bonham played together in the original Band of Joy which was a learning phase and basically a failure. Its always interested that some of the greatest bands in many cases came about because the right people just happen to cross paths.
@1105Chance Robert has been the hold up all these years...we made him a millionare and he fucked us out of a lifetime of music and left us with the same songs to play over and over and over and over and so on and so on...
This is what they should have played after Good Times Bad Times, ........"Page & Plant Pt1: Wanton Song,Bring It On Home, Heartbreaker". paste and search.
the crowd needs to STFU and throttle back... I would be pissed if i spent a fortune to have to listen to all the whoo hoos..and all the other BS going on..
@MOSKII58 It's pretty friggin boring to go to a show and have the crowd hold back like that. It just goes to show what kind of uptight culture you come from.
@ericjungleboy hey jungle idiot, if listening to led zep ain't enough to get your blood goin, i feel sorry 4 ya, i come from the 60's-70's music culture where the best music was born including Zep, not this gaga shit and everyone singing along who can't sing and ruining a great experience if u can't grasp that go to a julie andrews concert and sing the sound of music w/ her as far as being uptight my generation had the hottest babes we would have on our shoulders..we started all this..
If I had one day left on this earth and i could spend it any way i wanted it would be at this Led Zep Concert with all the fans around singing every word like they are
Is this on DVD anywhere there are some killer tracks from Presence on this.
Anyone have it or know where to get it?
If anyone does not love this band you just do not know music, have never felt its magic and have never played it. There will never be another Led Zeppelin.
@ all these folks saying that they wished they had played woodstock, ummm nah uh! zep never missed a beat and still were the biggest band worldwide throughout most of their career. the surviving members probably think that woodstock was just a tiny inconsequential blip of their f'n radar. true that zep would have owned woodstock but in my opinion they conquered so much much and gained millions of fans just doin' it their own way!
Attention Drummers/musicians!!! Get the book "realistic rock" by Carmine Appice!! If you like 60's-70's rock drumming it's the Bible. It turned my hopeless brother into a real rock guy. He would work on it every day and half way through the book and after learning the first Zeppelin record beat for beat he would go back to the jams and sound exactly like Simon Kirk of Free and Bad Company...with bonham fills to boot. It could save rock drumming im serious. Amazon.com
Please for the love of god you guys are passing up on a better career than you had then. your fans have money now!!!! and guess what the new generation FUCKING LOVES YOU MAN
Having seen for real in their pomp it's noticeable how much we've changed. When I was a lad folk cheered at the end of the song or a good break and didn't squeal like a girl through the whole thing. Totally fucking witless! We've been Americanised good and proper!
I'd probably still have given a limb to have been at the O2 though ;-)
I didnt have seats this good, but i didnt have to stand so i could just sit and be blown away, I saw my God and it was religious expirience. I am one of the few 20 yr olds that can legitimately say he saw Zepp
I saw this guy on the street with a broken down drum set on 3rd street in Santa Monica who played this to perfection, with the one-footed bass drum triplets and everything, and then he could do the Bonzo rapid-fire bass drum and toms fills on other songs too. Just sitting there on the street collecting spare change. Crazy.
thats why these LEGENDS NEVER DIE , their music is played overall and forever , me playing only page licks on the guitar because zeppelin songs are THE BEST !!! YEAHHHH!!!!!
Jimmy, Robert and Jonesy, I have an Idea; one last concert but with GUEST MUSICIANS. Example For Achilles Last Stand will have metallicas drummer (lars) and guitarist (James hetfield). Or Eddie van halen and (drummer Alex van halen) helping out with Hearbreaker. Ok Jimmy, Ok Robert, what do you think lets do it in Tribute to John Bonham. It could work. Anyone else with ideals for guest musicians? Jason you could do Moby Dick.
@LedLass Not surprised if he says 'no' to a tour. He might fear a string of bad nights, vocally, since Zeppelin is more of a vocal workout than his bluegrass thing he's doing now; and he knows he's not 25 anymore. Besides, the Page/Plant tour from a few years back was, like, 98% Zeppelin catalogue w/ maybe 1 or 2 songs off that 1 album they did. Glad I caught the show! They opened w/ Wanton Song & Ramble On was the pre-encore song.
This concert must have been just funner than hell for them to do...they look like theyre having a blast. I mean who doesnt want to revisit their youth and kick it in the ass one more time for old time sake!
@NKL77 The surviving Zeppelin members played several songs live with Jason during his wedding around 1990, so it isn't as if there was no precedent for Jason jamming with his dad's bandmates. Some of his Bonham material could easily fit in with Zeppelin's catalog, too!
what they could do is just one last show and televise it live for all the world to see....think about it...sponsors will get laid in cash and the fans will finally get what they want, and the Band will once again make history....think a while..think about it....!!!!!!!
@z1inspector Correct my friend, many people are mislead and believe that Zep played Woodstock, but they thought that it was to small scale, and kinda trashy! Little did they know it was one of the biggest concerts ever, I bet they wished that they would have played it
@bikkk57 Actually I heard they didn't play it because they didn't want to be just another band on the bill which of course they would've been. I agree with you though in retro they probably wish they had.
@TheRockandroll5150 That won't work. It would be better to petition for some of the video footage of this concert to be released, or for another reunion show at the Olympics in England. Zeppelin won't tour with Plant unless you could find a magic pill that could make Plant look and sound like his younger self. Then he might do it. But he feels too embarrassed and awkward doing it at this age.
@ericjungleboy Well, Plant is much smarter than most singers, and he's not so interested in REPEATING the past. He was always the one who blocked any reunions. He's not greedy like most people. Being in a huge band is not as much fun as people think. Playing the same songs for 40 years is NOT FUN. It becomes like a friggin' day job.
@TouchingYou Lou Gramm is lucky to be alive -- he had a brain tumor that was operated on & removed in 1999 which included part of his pituitary gland, thus causing an extremely slow recovery & major weight gain; I believe it also affected his thyroid which also causes weight gain in some cases. He (I believe, though I'm not entirely certain) is also diabetic. Gramm has stated his energy level is not what it was pre-op, but that he can still hit the high notes like he used to, which is amazing.
I started playing guitar because of them. Recently I wrote and recorded some songs. If you want to hear how Led Zeppelin-inspired music sounds 2011 style click on wisztrock. I think you'll like it.
To those who say 'idiots' of the person who videod this doesn't quite appreciate in the houses of the holy, this deserves a frame by frame treatment to make it the best it can possibly be and those who talk with lilting grace can refrain from saying 'idiots' but thankyou for sharing your awesome experience. As I scan this wasted land.
HEY GUYS WE'RE A MODERN ROCK PROGRESSIVE BAND FROM LONG ISLAND AND WOULD LOVE IT IF YOU COULD TAKE A FEW MINUTES AND LISTEN TO SOME OF OUR MUSIC! THANKS!
Why do people go to shows and tape it with their phones? Wouldn't you wanna just watch and listen and enjoy it? Why would you waste that opportunity of seeing Led Zep by watching the show through your phone? Idiots.
@brybry19871987 hello i was there 20 feet rom the front infront of jimmy to the side of me was brian may ,chad smith marilyn manson jeff beck and the bloke from chic all totally in awe of what was going on , during since ive been loving you brian may layed back with his eyes closed just listening. i didnt take a phone or camera into the show all i wanted to do was absorb the events unfolding.... those memories will always be in my soul i wanted to see it as a whole not through a view finder
@gilbosconi thanks for that comment. Very moving. How many 70ies tragics like would have been in there in spirit, and can so understand the crowd singing the lyrics along with the band. No wonder they look affirmed by the crowd. I read somewhere guys in the pisser at interval were like in a daze only half believing they had the privilege. Lucky, lucky, lucky. Well done LZ, for the fans no doubt.
i mean, who the fuck understand you stupid people, it passed like, 30 years since zep dind't play in public, and you were the few only who had the chance to actually see them alive for the last time (something like that for me is impossible cause i'm from argentina) and also you're watching them, and you're also recording them with your camera, WHO THE FUCK UNDERSTAND YOU? jump, kick, sing, for crying out loud, ITS ZEPPELIN IN FRONT OF YOU!
I'd give my left nut to to have been at this show, and this close to the stage. Hell, I might have even considered the right one too! Ledzy Rules - GREATEST ROCK & ROLL BAND OF ALL TIME!
Once Plant became a Honey Dipper, it was all over. Page continued to make music. Led Zeppelin was dead. No reunion could bring them back. No more making more Page and Plant music.

what they could do is just one last show and televise it live for all the world to see....think about it...sponsors will get laid in cash and the fans will finally get what they want, and the Band will once again make history....think a while..think about it....!!!!!!!

@tacomadavid68 your probably thinking of a different performance of theirs my dude = ZEP didnt play woodstock !
z1inspector 5 months ago
@z1inspector Correct my friend, many people are mislead and believe that Zep played Woodstock, but they thought that it was to small scale, and kinda trashy! Little did they know it was one of the biggest concerts ever, I bet they wished that they would have played it
bikkk57 5 months ago
@bikkk57 definetely, people today would know them more too
ledzeppelin689 5 months ago
@ledzeppelin689 Yep, you are right about that
bikkk57 5 months ago
@bikkk57 Actually I heard they didn't play it because they didn't want to be just another band on the bill which of course they would've been. I agree with you though in retro they probably wish they had.
fairyfellermaster 5 months ago
They could schedule a show in Bangkok...that way only the truely dedicated would come. (Now that is dreaming)

RickyRocker821 9 months ago
@TheRockandroll5150 That won't work. It would be better to petition for some of the video footage of this concert to be released, or for another reunion show at the Olympics in England. Zeppelin won't tour with Plant unless you could find a magic pill that could make Plant look and sound like his younger self. Then he might do it. But he feels too embarrassed and awkward doing it at this age.
ericjungleboy 9 months ago
@ericjungleboy Well, Plant is much smarter than most singers, and he's not so interested in REPEATING the past. He was always the one who blocked any reunions. He's not greedy like most people. Being in a huge band is not as much fun as people think. Playing the same songs for 40 years is NOT FUN. It becomes like a friggin' day job.
TouchingYou 9 months ago
@TouchingYou I suppose that's why he always includes a set of Zeppelin songs in his concerts, eh?
Pfffffft! The dude's a hypocrite. Sorry, but I calls 'em like I see 'em.
LedLass 6 months ago
@ericjungleboy And the're all in surprisingly good shape. (Take a look at Lou Gramm of Foreigner today! SCARY!)
TouchingYou 9 months ago
@TouchingYou Lou Gramm is lucky to be alive -- he had a brain tumor that was operated on & removed in 1999 which included part of his pituitary gland, thus causing an extremely slow recovery & major weight gain; I believe it also affected his thyroid which also causes weight gain in some cases. He (I believe, though I'm not entirely certain) is also diabetic. Gramm has stated his energy level is not what it was pre-op, but that he can still hit the high notes like he used to, which is amazing.
rafro007 5 months ago
@rafro007 LOU is awsome !

Tryin' to find where I've been.

Idiots.

@brybry19871987 hello i was there 20 feet rom the front infront of jimmy to the side of me was brian may ,chad smith marilyn manson jeff beck and the bloke from chic all totally in awe of what was going on , during since ive been loving you brian may layed back with his eyes closed just listening. i didnt take a phone or camera into the show all i wanted to do was absorb the events unfolding.... those memories will always be in my soul i wanted to see it as a whole not through a view finder
gilbosconi 7 months ago
@gilbosconi thanks for that comment. Very moving. How many 70ies tragics like would have been in there in spirit, and can so understand the crowd singing the lyrics along with the band. No wonder they look affirmed by the crowd. I read somewhere guys in the pisser at interval were like in a daze only half believing they had the privilege. Lucky, lucky, lucky. Well done LZ, for the fans no doubt.
