ur right in the dark tower i guess you can say father callahan see the wrong he did and makes up for it ten fold but matt didnt die in the book that pissed me off i liked matt to me in the book even though its nuts he was the older voice of reason trying to see the truth without seeming like a lune
In some ways, but not all, the 2004 version is a little better than the 1979 version. The vamps are socialable and intentional, as opposed to just being mindless blood suckers. In that regard, this one kinda edges out its predecessor.
@thatamazinggeek Actually... I suspect crosses don't work at vamps from other religions. The film "The fearless vampire killers" actually makes a joke about that, often reffered to as the Jewish vampire joke. When someone shows him the cross, he just laughs and says something like "you picked the wrong vampire for that".
But honestly I think you need to show something holy from the vamps original religion to ward them off.
My mother wouldn't have stood there arguing with me. She might not have even believed any of it, but she would have taken one look at my appearance and realized that something was dangerously wrong and gotten out of the house.
A little over a year ago a man (who could have been Callahan's brother) pulled into my driveway broke down. This was at midnight. I went out with a .38 Special in my pocket to talk with him (and ended up helping him get home) but after watching this movie....I might need to get a cross...I am a Christian but I do not have a cross.
@clemmyjohnson I totally agree, there are much actors/actresses overrated and many other, much better, but underrated or they can't go on,obviously there is something like some Masonry in Hollywood.
@Souw92 I don't like this movie because father Callahan died. In the book he ran off after his fall, but returned in the Dark Tower and kicked the vampires' asses.
@ACruelPicture I don't think Father Callaghan died... he was alive. He was the servant of Kurt Barlow I think. Or, he might be the new priest for the vampire community in the city LOL
those little bastards crawling on the roof of the bus were friggin' creepy

Rutger Hauer is a fabulous actor..! And I love him in so many things.
But this is just not his role!!!!
No one will ever be able to replace Reggie Nalder as the original "Salems Lot" Master!!! Just cant be done!!!

Callahan killing Mark made more sense than the book having Callahan just leave....in fact I would think Callahan would become a vamp like Barlow.

So, at the beginning, Father Callahan was feeding the homeless. Did he think he could become their god?

Rutget Hauer is also a fine actor. Very uncelebrated and underrated.
