... I dunno what to say about this game :( I miss FFXI and I was very disappointed with FFXIV... I hope there are people who play it and love it because it's a shame that it hasn't done so well...

@Cmondry dw man, it's just an aquired taste, i almost cried after the first 10 hours of ff14 when the realization sunk in that it wasn't going to get any better, that it wasn't going to be anything like ff11, but i kept going with it, nothing else to do and now i think its better than ff11. For real, i played my old ff11 & just culdn't get into it anymore, so many things in it made me like, "wtf, ffxiv does this so much better" ffxiv rocks, you just got to give it time, a lot of time.

@theophilis don't get me wrong I love Final Fantasy, as of now, I'm happy about the new updates to the game (FFXIV) because it seems to be getting better. I'll give it more time before I give it another shot. For now, I'm enjoying other fast paced PVP games, but the solid story lines that were available in FFXI are just unrivaled.

@Cmondry yeah i completely agree dude, people go on and on about the great story lines of ff7 and ff10 but i never hear sqwat about ff11. Thats the one thing that i think ff14 will not surpass ff11 on in the coming future - the story line. Story in ff11 was freakin awesome as far as MMO's are concerned, you just don't see story that good in online games. so yeah, good on you for sticking it out, it looks like ff11 2.0 is going to be sick, i cant freakin wait. even getting it on my ps3.

This is how all parties should be 4-6 man. Not this 15man bs in the game now

bigger parties is better for everyone in anyway since you have less groups competing over mobs.

@michaelalowther No sir because bigger parties= Zerg fest where mobs die too fast. They changed it to where if you have over 8 party members, you lose more sp than you'd get in an 8 man party

@youGOTpwndFYI you seem to have missed the fact that i posted this 2 months ago, back when you would still get the party bonus in a party up to 15 people :P

but 8 people are optimal right now in SP parties.

also, you only lose about 10% of the SP you would normally get for a 9th party member to join, no matter what rank they are.

so if i join a rank 20 party on my 50 glad, their SP would be the same as if i was rank 20 as well (makes for easy power levelling, hope they fix it tbh)

@youGOTpwndFYI you gain the party bonus from every member in the party that is up to 5 ranks above you or 10 ranks below up to a total of getting the bonus from 7 people.

so if the original 8 people are all within a 5 rank range, everyone will get the full party bonus and it doesn't matter what rank additional players are since you can't get a higher party bonus.

I've already tested this, we had a 9 man party ranks 38-42 (i was 40 con) then i switched to 50 glad and their SP was exactly the same

I'm hoping they make it so you can't level at all with a really high rank person in the party (say something like if someone 15 ranks above yourself joins the party, you gain 0 SP)

@michaelalowther They're going to have to reevaluate a lot of the party concepts they have in the game right now b/c...#1. Some of them just don't make sense i.e the difference in ranks not affecting SP #2. They are completely altering the battle system. Personally I would love to see something similar to XI but its probably not going to happen. We won't be able to make any kind of educated guess at what they have in store for party dynamics until we see what kind of changes they make jobs/abil

@youGOTpwndFYI well Naoki Yoshida has said in his "letter from the producer" series that he plans on reducing the max party size to 8.

and tbh, I'd be happy with a max party size of 8, 6 would seem to low now for me, but 8 man parties to me would be ideal for a limit :)

my gf wants to be Lalafell and she asked me to be the same race but im worried if i pick melee job later ... since tarus in FFXI have low HP and STR

@IamHim22 They races are pretty much equal so pick which one you'd like to play as. Each race and clan does have slightly different base stats but you can distribute your stats points to whichever stat you'd like so it's no problem at all.
