i have a buddy who had a "bull mastiff" as he calls it that was maybe 4.5ft tall but probably (my opinion) 230+ lbs. in weight, at least. This thing was the fattest dog I've ever seen but its his dog, what am i gonna do, he really believed it was just the breed of the dog. (truth is he never walked it) So eventually at 7 years old the dog was trying to go up stairs and broke 2 legs completely and had to be put down. He still believes it died from old age and was bred to be that big. Oh well.

Unfortunately large breeds often attract people with serious size obsessions. This picture here is something which feeds this illness. Because people actually believe that a dog this big is possible they are disappointed with their REAL dog's size to the point where they feed it until it explodes. well that was good to finally learn that photo was fake seems i'm an easily confused person. I have three dogs of my own,2, 3 year old lab X's and a puppy I got on Wednesday who is 8 wks old. I named her Zelda, she's a bull arab X mastiff X wolfhound X great dane. Though I cant work out what type of mastiff she is and whether there is actually any difference.. Anyone who knows anything about English Mastiffs should know that picture is fake. I have a female English Mastiff who weighs 140. Sure, it feels like she weights 280 when she is standing on your foot, but I would never wish for a dog that big. Mastiffs are known for their hip problems. A "280 pound" English Mastiff would need hip replacement by age 5!

I seen a newfoundland in my neighbourhood that was a ppl stopper. Close to the size of that mastiff and shorter by a few inches perhaps up to its shoulders. I've seen many kinds of mastiffs, wolfhounds, st bernards, great danes but damn that newfoundland was something different.
Newfies often look HUGE... But that is mostly because of the thick coat. A 150 pound Newfie can "look" bigger than a 200 pound Mastiff because the mastiff is completely stripped of anything enhancing the size. When a newfie gets wet it is downright shocking how much "size" they lose.

Actually the mastiff IS the biggest breed in the world on the whole. I guess you were trying to say "KANGAL" which is Turkish breed that is not nearly as massive as a mastiff. The confusion started because the people of the area where the Kangal comes from are small people in comparison to the average American. Therefore their not so big dogs look HUGE because if the small person next to them. I saw many Kangals in person and never saw one over 150 pounds.

That dog in the picture looks more like a lion or tiger that has just been photo shopped to look like a dog. Take a good look at the paws on that thing, definitely tiger paws and especially the claws. Anyone who would believe that picture is real definitely doesn't know animals. It's an interesting photo shop picture though, definitely something worth way more than two million words lol.
The only thing that has been photoshopped is the size of the dog. The structure and the bone (paws and legs) are left in proportion. In fact... My dogs usually have much bigger bone in comparison with this photo. If you look at some of my web sites you will find some dogs that will amaze you as far as they mythical construction is concerned. "Lion" paws are possible in this breed if you know how to breed them. The only thing impossible is the 700 pound size...

He was born in America, brought up in Germany, then returned to America... his first language is actually German so that is why his accent is a mixture of both American and German. I agree with you it has a nice tone to it. Yes, there are tones of hatred in some of the responses here. If those people do;t like something, they shouldn't comment on it at all. :)

When it comes to dogs, it is HIGHLY unlikely, basically impossible for a dog to reach 700 pounds. Sure, some dogs break weight records within the species; the breed. Like the heaviest dog on earth did, Hercules. As well as i'm sure there is the smallest dog on earth, but these weight differences are within a certain range. Hercules weighed 282 pounds. That's only about 120 pounds

Anyone who knows anything about English Mastiffs should know that picture is fake. I have a female English Mastiff who weighs 140. Sure, it feels like she weights 280 when she is standing on your foot, but I would never wish for a dog that big. Mastiffs are known for their hip problems. A "280 pound" English Mastiff would need hip replacement by age 5!

I seen a newfoundland in my neighbourhood that was a ppl stopper. Close to the size of that mastiff and shorter by a few inches perhaps up to its shoulders. I've seen many kinds of mastiffs, wolfhounds, st bernards, great danes but damn that newfoundland was something different.

Newfies often look HUGE... But that is mostly because of the thick coat. A 150 pound Newfie can "look" bigger than a 200 pound Mastiff because the mastiff is completely stripped of anything enhancing the size. When a newfie gets wet it is downright shocking how much "size" they lose.

Actually the mastiff IS the biggest breed in the world on the whole. I guess you were trying to say "KANGAL" which is Turkish breed that is not nearly as massive as a mastiff. The confusion started because the people of the area where the Kangal comes from are small people in comparison to the average American. You have a wonderful speaking voice. Breeding and showing horses, I knew instantly this was a fake. The horse looks about 900 lbs and the dogs head is larger than the horses shoulders so he'd way a lot more than 280. Thanks for the info and well said.

I mainly deal with breeds displaying characteristics known as "ojeriza", and mainly have experience with Fila Brasileiro, and I have never been disappointed by a dogs service with me . I find it amazing the number of idiots that are in the business of raising dogs, when they have no concept of what they are doing. Thanks alot!

I want to thank you for posting this video. I am a dog enthusiast myself & I am surprised every day by people in this world with their convictions & rationale (aka goldenzebrastripes). I am a proud bullmastiff owner who takes training very seriously;especially after having 2 boxers who were a bit out of control. Thankfully I discovered Cesar Milans amazing tips & I now own a large dog whom everyone loves--even cat people. I hope one day the majority will want to have the same bond I do with Max

That dog in the picture looks more like a lion or tiger that has just been photo shopped to look like a dog. Take a good look at the paws on that thing, definitely tiger paws and especially the claws. Anyone who would believe that picture is real definitely doesn't know animals. It's an interesting photo shop picture though, definitely something worth way more than two million words lol.

The only thing that has been photoshopped is the size of the dog. The structure and the bone (paws and legs) are left in proportion. In fact... My dogs usually have much bigger bone in comparison with this photo. If you look at some of my web sites you will find some dogs that will amaze you as far as they mythical construction is concerned. "Lion" paws are possible in this breed if you know how to breed them. The only thing impossible is the 700 pound size...
