  • This song isnt from Cash.

It was written by Kris Kristofferson.

    All the credits to Kris.

  • @pvvnummer1 Yeah it was written by him, however, johnny cash sings it AWESOME!!!

  • Beautiful song. I lost my brother Matt at the age of 22 in September 2010. This is the song I used in his funeral slideshow. I can't even listen to it without crying. R.I.P Matt. I Love you.

  • Damn you for cutting the last part!

  • i love this man !! he s in my heart next to Elvis until the day ill die .

  • Last album, one of his last songs, but still one of the best :)

  • Is it natural if I cry because Johnny has that powerful effect over me

  • @16beatlefan haha I cried the first time I listened to this.. also because I was feeling very sentimental having just left spain, where I studied abroad for the summer

  • gatão

  • * * * * *

  • My God, I never thought ANYONE would ever approach the Al Green version of this song. But the funereal tone in Cash's voice is equally heartbreaking... no, more so. Very different approaches to the same song. Both aching in their own private hearts.

  • @pmfnr that post was beautiful

  • When I was arrested I was dressed in black

  • The best!!

  • his later songs are so full of emotion , its like he knew when his end would be and he wanted to get all of it out before he past on . rip johnny .

  • it abruptly stops - but a great great performance

  • Originally a Ray Price song. Both him and Cash did amazing with the song and are fantastic artists

  • @ddoty39 Actually, the song is written and recorded by Kris Kristofferson back in '69 for his debut album, which was released in 1970. In that same year Price did record it and had a huge hit with it, but it's not originally his.

Please don't get me wrong, Price did a good job on it, but I'm just setting the record straight ;-)

  • @RockinDwarf KK doesnt get the recognition he deserves. JMHO

  • Johnny was & is a legend & this from his last studio album is a great song from what I personally believe is the most evocative album he ever did! God bless Johnny & thanks for all the memories, music laughs & tears - you are one of the brightest stars in heaven!

  • I found this song by accident and Im glad I did. I didnt think he could do this song justice ,but I was wrong . This version gives me chills ,it is that good. He makes every song his own.

  • Why would you download the Album, if your a true Johnny Cash fan or just like the music by the wonderous man, then you MUST buy it to show your respect as he recorded this with his dying breaths.

  • please watch Waylon with this song! new johnny cash!

  • @mastertjeu johnny cash is the one and only...there can't be a new one

  • un vieux pote.....JOHNNY CASH....great.....amicalement JESSEE♥

  • I thought it would be impossible, but it's even better then Hurt... really amazing song

  • Simply beautiful.

  • wow, this is an amazing version. it makes me so sad though, amazing how we share things with ppl then burn those bridges and move on with life, we human beings are a weird breed...lol

  • Elvis owns this one!

Fantastic song by Kris K. Always thought he was a better song writer than Cash.

  • I love this SONG, it amazing !!!!

    R.I.P. The Man In Black

  • @MalaMi57 you should listen to his reincarnation, watch the video waylon sings for the good times!

  • @nakketakker

You do know that waylon was born before cash died right? They even lived in the same house for a while x') How could he be the cash incarnate?

  • @nakketakker

    I agree ;-P

  • @nakketakker I watched it - this Waylon chose to fuck up the lyrics of the song at three crucial points, taking away strength from the song - a great voice though

  • wat een geweldige artiest, hij maakt het leven de moeite waard

  • @MrJoh1956 Mee eens.

  • What a man, what a singer. He brings so much joy in my life because he is able to cover life's emotions and he was very intelligent. I always tend to say: of all JC's -Jesus Christ, Julius Ceasar, Johan Cruyff, Johnny Cash, the latter is the best to listen maybe also because he managed to marry a JC! .

May both rest in peace but I would give a fortune to see him live performing again.

  • Great sound!
