I think things really started going down hill around the mid 90s, and by the late 90s, things really went into the crapper. I blame the resurgence of boy bands. It's been downhill ever since and the pop hits of today are no match for the 90s, and are completely obliterated by the 80s output. Rock, rap, country, pop now? All bad.
