This works maybe half of the time. My computer recently crashed, I lost fifty something tabs. I go to "Recently Closed", and what do I see but only the tabs I had closed before my system crashed. Not a single one of the tab groups that had been lost during the crash showed up.
Sure wish there was an auto save. I just had Chrome crash and lost all 7 tabs I had open. Reopen and there is no way to get them back. Two and a half years since this video and they haven't really added much.... It may not be the best browser but stuff like this makes me miss Opera when I use Chrome :-\
That is not session restore; that's tab restore. Session restore is when I can save a session and go back and retrieve it, like in Opera. Chrome may be the best browser for compatibility, but for a workspace, it is very poor. It needs session save/restore, the ability to stack tabs, a download manager that doesn't take up screen space, and for the love of all that's holy, being able click a tab to minimize it. I hate having to hunt for tabs I just opened or left.
AND I want to be able to make a bookmarked named "GR," and when I type GR into the URL bar, it'll go to the URL I have associated with it! It astounds me that this is not implemented!
Hey, Nick, you know what else works just as well? HOTKEYS.
Let's say you're... typing a YouTube comment just like this one, but when you try to type a capital 'W' ( ← hey, like that one!), maybe you hit Ctrl+W instead of Shift+W. Your tab closed—it's witchcraft! But not to fear... because you can re-open the tab without even moving your hand! Just hit Ctrl+Shift+T, a shortcut that's been around before Chrome even existed. No more awkward fumbling with the mouse or looking for miniaturized links.
That's not full session store .....it just brought one window back......other option is irritating if I don't want my previous tabs and windows each time I start my browser.
These options are all walk-arounds......correct method is what Opera uses....I can store as many sessions as I want for as long as I want
Well I've just lost tons of tabs, google why you didn't think when writing your software. Stupid Chrome, I am switching back to the old good browsers!
Look, I'm glad there's a way of getting tabs back, and I respect the unobtrusive design sense, but what about the user story?
Shouldn't I be allowed to turn it on? This is a standard, expected feature. Do some user tests to see how many people turn it back on. It doesn't matter if it conflicts with your design sense if it's what users want.
@GameMogul Note, my biggest beef is the lost session data and lost browser history. Yeah I can get my last tabs back, but that's just the latest snapshot of what I was doing (sans account logins and form data.)
it does not help when you are for example in a chat room or when you uploading smth. you have to start from beginning. chrome would be best if not this issue. must leave you now :(
Great job on ur stupidity, u have been dubbed as stupid for saying ubuntu is better, you know why? Cuz ubuntu is an OS and chrome is a web browser. See the difference? No. Then Unsubscribe
yes, thank you. judging his looks is the best way to critique the software feature in his presentation. google chrome sucks because his has narrow eyes.
the biggest problem i get is that, say the power goes out, or the fuse blows, it or my computer shuts down for whatever reason, it doesn;t ask if want to continue previous session, like Firefox does
you can bet firefox will come out with an update that modifies their session restore to mirror these options...that is the sweetness of open source projects.
i used to really like firefox, and i still hate internet explorer, but now firefox runs terrible and i have all kinds of problems with it. i've tried reinstalling it and everything i can think of. i never had this trouble before, it freezes up and crashes on me too. what happened to the firefox i knew?
i might have to try this google chrome out, it looks like it might be a better option....
Its that fire fox does this even if the computer shuts down. I still prefer google chrome its so easy to use and it seems to me that it is so much faster!
yeah but firefox "interrupts" the user when they want to shit down everything. The only thing I wonder is if it works if you shut down your computer, firefox works regardless

So if I shit on everything, Firefox tells me that it's probably a bad idea? What the fuck version are you using??
JakkHack 2 years ago
Firefox only does this when it crashes or in the history tab this is more simple
just open a tab and your there this is a innovative in ways and not either.
