@koalajones88: You forget that Bret came back recently & had a "match" with Vince, so really, all that's happened to Bret is irrelevant, for Bret still returned in some capacity. Ditto for Foley getting up after every single extreme incident he's ever been in. Seriously, Bret is one of the technical greats, but he wouldn't dare compete in any of the insane matches Foley competed in. Bret's career ending from a blotched kick seems ridiculous when you have people like Funk & Foley still wrestling.
@koalajones88: Says you. If most doctors saw any of Mick's matches, he'd be a liability to wrestling/be deemed unable to wrestle years ago. But because Mick has a high threshold of pain, he could actually take it moreso than someone even as technically sound as Bret could. The man has had numerous consussions, a tooth broken through his nose, dislocated shoulders, bruised kidneys, et al & has wrestled in matches full of barbwire, thumbtacks, fire, & explosives! Bret wouldn't dare face that shit.
"Wait a minute, a hippie waving the american flag??"
Woodstock is American, isn't it?
ryanoasis: You're an idiot. Dude was Foley's boyhood creation when he idolized the likes of HBK for being ladies' men. It was the Dude's leap off of Danny Zucker's roof that started the career of Mrs. Foley's Baby Boy. As for ECW, Foley--like the Funks--DEFINED hardcore wrestling, so to insult it is to insult Foley himself, so kindly do research or step off & leave greats like Foley alone.
"what right does he have?" well how about giving his whole body to the profesion bret? how about he lost an ear because he loves wrestling while you, after one bad kick to the head quit like a nobody? i know he is playing bad guy but damn is he being disrespectful
@727Superstar: BS. A botched kick from Goldberg wouldn't have destroyed Mick Foley. Foley's wrestled in barbwire, fire, explosives, & countless other extreme weapons, so one simple move error wouldn't have done in the King of Hardcore.
Dude Love?!.......................O K, Here's a few tiny questions: When the fck did Mick Foley's career start to dissolve into dust, WHO the fck gave Mick Foley a gimmick so bad that he would be writing book for bastard babies, and Why the flying fck do you think he is in the better place? Honestly, WWE is going nowhere, absolutly nowhere! And btw, ECW DID stand for "extremly crappy wrestin'"! Thanx, Vince(!) cunt
@NoBrianNoGain Bret defeated Mankind throughout the house show circuit in '97. Bret and Foley never had any televised matches though, despite being great buddies.
@billcoll79 Thanks :) Despite reading Mankind's book (amongst others) I had no idea they had wrestled. I guess if they did them at house shows but non televised they were not barn burners but you would think the 2 of them would have good chemistry...
@NoBrianNoGain I was looking for the dude vs owen with Austin on commentary He said in his book they purposely had the worst / most ridiclous hardcore match of all time and stunk the place up to get steve to break character and start laughing on live TV
@NoBrianNoGain Foley and Bret never had a singles match, but they did face each other in a televised tag team match: on the July 21, 1997 edition of Raw, Bret, Owen and Bulldog faced The Undertaker, Steve Austin, and Dude Love in the show's first ever Flag match. Bret and Foley were never tagged in at the same time and had limited physicality, but It's a very entertaining match nonetheless.
@militarycampaign Well more accurately in those days Lawler always aligned himself with the heel, and bret was a face for so long, hence their bitterness.
@tico8007 it's weird huh... it's weird how undertaker and kane are like really brothers too, and they didn't see each other for like 30 yrs then all of a sudden they're both working for the same wrestling promotion. Who would have thought? Did you know paul bearer is their father too? For realsies?
@parallelogramammoth LOL kane is glenn jacobs taker is mark calloway and paul bearer aka percy pringle is William "Bill" Moody. none of them are related. however paul as percy pringle was takers manager for his first pro match back when he was "big red"
@tico8007 Actually yes. In Bret's book Hart states that Lawler actually did hit him (for real) during matches and when Laweler attacked Bret after Hart won King of the RIng. Go to the search engine and type in Bret Hart vs. Doink the clown. After Hart beats Doink he fights lawler. But when Hart applies the sharpshooter he actually pulls back and really injures Lawler and the refs who act as if they're trying to pull Hart off Lawler are actually pushing Bret back to make the pain more intense.
I heard there's a match Owen and Mick did that had Steve Austin on commentary. They wrestled really crappy, overselling everything to the extreme and even beating the crap out of each other with bags of popcorn, all to get Steve to break character on-camera. I'd love to see this match.
