  • Jacky's english is actually really good for someone who hasn't been formally educated in the english language. I think he's just stuttering because he was nervous.

  • I enjoy his acting as the Character ''Autumn Leaf'' in A Chinese Ghost Story II .. and ''Yin'' in the third chapter...

    R.i.p Anita and Leslie

  • Given his education background, I'm amazed by his command of the English Language. His English communication skills are better than many university graduates these days.

    Bravo, Jacky!

  • haha...he wanted to say no way in hell..but he controlled himself hahaXD

  • I love how he said "my daddy..." XD

  • You guys need to look beyond Jacky's accent, beyond the superficial, and realize that this man is "God".

  • oh. i love him., he speaks good in english ..at least it's better than many HK artists.

  • You are right! No one in Asia is in a position to question the spoken English of Jacky. He never had any formal college education nor has he studied in the West. He is one of the best communicators in English language among the "locally educated" HK artists. In fact, I find his accent and diction very good already...so spontaneous! Listen to how "local" artists from South East Asia speak in English (not the fluency but diction, accent & pronunciation).

  • @hwong0309

Tony Leung speaks much better English than Jacky. He hasn't been educated abroad either.

I like Jacky and his cute accent. But don't talk down about others please.

  • @hwong0309

Yes jackys english is terrific for a guy whos never been educated formally in the lanaguage.

Its better than i expected. Why do people have such high requirements for foreigners to speak english like they were born and eductaed in england or something? its ridiculous

  • There could only be the one and only Jacky Cheung!!!

He's amazing in his vocal skills and music talent.

To me he's the best Hong Kong has to offer in music... All the new artists can't compare to this legend.

  • I'm surpised they didn't play any of his most famous songs

  • Lorraine Hahn is one of my most favourite anchores in CNN.

  • jacky so much admiration for you. thx for ur voice and sones accompanying me during all the way through happiness and sorrow

  • Very strange accent. He's fobbing British english from Hong Kong, not American english.

  • english is his third language, so don't blame him..:D but at least he could communicate.

  • @myacnt8999

His english is far better than i expected. Its quite decent. I dont know why people criticise his english. I mean, do they really expect him to speak 100% english like he was raised abroad? People should stop being so arrogant.

  • he also has a very strange chinese accent.. haha lol soi dun blame him

  • i didnt know he was an alcoholic!

  • he say daddy even thro he is in this fortie, so cute

  • jackyy, is the voice of asian ever had

    greatest singer I've ever seen...

    The best of the best

    Your voices make me fly....

  • andy is a better actor. Jacky is a better singer.

  • OMg Love him so so much.....wow he spoke well... even my dad loves his songs...

  • I love the movie footage from the 1988 movie - "As Tears Go By". A lovely performance from Jacky and Andy.

  • his english is better then I expected

  • The English subtitles are pretty accurate translation of the Cantonese dialogue. There are occasional hilarious mishaps in translations with wrong spelling, strange direct translations (some Cantonese slangs and Chinese poems aren't translatable, but the Hong Kong subtitlers still do it. It has improved year by year, especially Hong Kong films post 1997). It's so good to see Jacky on an international talk show.

  • I love his songs!!and I love him too.

  • his english is very good!!

  • I did not know and would not think Jacky had a nadir in his career in the late 1980s. I am just happy he bounced back and remains beloved to so many fans. He seems a stable, well-meaning, and well-grounded person. Hooray for Jacky.

  • i believe it's Andy's own voice, but it's not Jacky's own voice in the movie clip.

  • oh wow! i thought it didn't sound like him? why'd they change his voice?

  • Wow, after watching this clip (which is one of my favourite)just realized that Andy Lau has been dominating the industry for 20+ years.

  • what movie is this?

  • "As Tears Go By", a Wong Kar-wai movie.
