You have a lot to learn about John Wayne but you probably won't find much truth on the internet. you need to read some books about him to get the truth. He was an old man by military standards of the day at the outbreak of war. He was 34 years old and had a family. He had an injury from surfing that probably would have qualified him a "4-F" physically unfit for service. When he did attempt to enlist the studios pulled strings to block it and threatened his career. Read before you post please.

John Wayne was killed in 2 other movies beside the Cowboys: The Sands of Iwo Jima where he is shot by a Japanese sniper and The Shootist where he takes a shotgun blast from a bartender. All other movies where his character dies he was not directly killed by anyone. And believe it or not in The Alamo a movie he invested in his character killed himself when he blows up a gunpowder magazine to stop the Mexicans.
