The thing I hate when it comes to parking lots (or just OUTSIDE of a store) has nothing to do with cars. It's people SMOKING! I swear, everywhere I go I have to smell that crap. I beg to differ.

I've known lots of parking lots and not a single one of them has ever tried to kill anyone. Sure, you're going to get isolated incidents where a parking lot had cigarettes put out on them by their parents, and so it's no surprise they grow up to be cyclepaths. However, most parking lots I know are good, honest, hardworking areas of concrete. I'd even go as far as to trust them with my kids.

hey karen I love you but I just have to say something about putting the baby in the car first (from a mothers point of view) If you put the baby in the car first you have to walk away from the car to put your cart in the little coral and leaving a baby alone in a car (even for a few sec's) is not a good idea for two reasons #1 babies have been kidnapped out of the carseat while the mother wasn't looking #2 the heat in the car goes up fast,I keep my baby next to me at all times still love ya tho
