I believe spending money on health care is good not only for the American people but also for the nation. Americans will live longer and have a healthier life. If more Americans live longer they will have more people to pay off the debt.
Not all wealthy people create jobs. Tiger Woods who make over $60 million or more do not create any jobs at all. But if the government decides to cut taxes, guess how much Tiger and other wealthy people would save. A working class worker, who only makes $25,000 year wouldn't benefit at all. But if 200 million working Americans live longer they would work longer, and there will be more money to the government. ..compared, and lets say only 20 million working Americans working ...the nation will have less money and maybe even more debt in the long term.

Palin also INCREASED TAXES on the oil industry, whose resources the state owns.
And through the money that the state gets for owning that oil, $2000 was given this year to EVERY state resident. Palin has 7 in her family so the state GAVE her $14,000. And the excess money the state gets from the oil it redistributes into the economy through POLITICAL AND GOVERNMENTAL means and not market-driven.
And they're able to afford to do all these things not just through taxing oil but through a generally "socialistic" strategy of taxing big corporations and giving that money back to the working people.

Unemployment is now10.2%. He took over part of the auto industry. He has increased taxes twice. He is attempting to force the largest tax increase in history with "Cap and Trade." Desperate times call for desperate measures. If you can recall the disaster the current president inherited and trying to fix and put all these policies into context...then it would make sense. In my experience (I have no stats to quote here), my friends who have migrated to the states always come back to Canada for medication and health coverage. Those who cannot leave states and don't have health coverage are obviously in dire situations. I can see that people would migrate to any part of the world to get the best specialist care possible, however, that's besides the point. Canada has world renowned physicians as does the states. It's also true that healthcare spending is a
challenge, however, it's a challenge we embrace and work with. It's worth the effort to give everyone a basic need of life.

Overall wealth grew but the overall strength, which comes from the middle class, as the classes wealth decreased.
When Raagan took office the top marginal tax rate was 69.13%, and went from 69.13%-50% from 1981-1986, then 38.5%, then 28%.
Once again I was old enough to have voted in the 1976 election. I remember the disaster that was Jimmy Carter.I remember his "malaise of the people" speach. Clinton furthered those policies with Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac. Both organizations run by Democrats for years. These laws forced banks to give mortgages to unqualified borrowers. Barney Frank and Chris Dodd turned a blind eye. All of this helped the housing bubble to from and then burst. Dems blamed it all on Bush.
Oh please. Way to run with the conservative talking point of the CRA. News flash. The housing bubble didn't begin until 1997. So for 20 years there was no housing bubble and no problem with CRA. Then they repealed Glass-Steagal and passed Graham-Leach Bliley which deregulated derivatives and the banking industry allowing investment and savings banks to merge. Additionally, if you look at the cause of the housing bubble less than 15% of the bad mortgages even fell under the CRA jurisdiction

That public option isn't socialism because the government is not taking over private enterprise. They're giving you a non-private option...that's all. If YOU'D actually studied you'd know that Hitler DID NOT nationalize health care, Bismark did in 1883. If you'd actually studied you'd know that the Weimar Republic nationalized the banks, not Hitler. Most industries under Hitler were not nationalized and those that were did not share ownership and wealth with the workers but instead split ownership between the government and aristocracy. The US government have spent or is spending 780 billion dollars (bailout) to stimulate the economy. And I am sure you are aware that this money is from taxpayers. Governments around the world are doing the same to combat the financial crisis. Governments have spent billions in attracting companies to build their headquarters and factories, which create jobs and that leads to more tax revenues into the governments' coffers. ...to me, that is creating wealth. ..money flows back into the system.

There's barely any local government...the power resides almost exclusively with the state. They pay for a large majority of the people's health care & will pay the full tuition of any state resident at any college. Kennedy did not cut taxes, at least for the top earners, Johnson did. The top rate was 91% from 1954 - 1963. 64 was the first year it dropped and even then it dropped only to 77%. Reagan might have dropped taxes but only from 70% to 69.5% in 1981 and to 50% in 82. The tax rate now is 39.6

And what's your point? Once again I point out context. The context that Reagan might have reduced taxes but that was from 70 - 50%. Obama's top marginal tax rate is 39.6%. That is the same rate that Clinton's tax levels were at and his growth margin was greater than Reagan's. Additionally, while economic growth increased, economic strength decreased. Overall wealth grew but the overall strength, which comes from the middle class, as the classes wealth decreased.

Clinton furthered those policies with Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac. Both organizations run by Democrats for years. These laws forced banks to give mortgages to unqualified borrowers. Barney Frank and Chris Dodd turned a blind eye. All of this helped the housing bubble to from and then burst. Dems blamed it all on Bush.

Oh please. Way to run with the conservative talking point of the CRA. News flash. The housing bubble didn't begin until 1997. So for 20 years there was no housing bubble and no problem with CRA. Then they repealed Glass-Steagal and passed Graham-Leach Bliley which deregulated derivatives and the banking industry allowing investment and savings banks to merge. Additionally, if you look at the cause of the housing bubble less than 15% of the bad mortgages even fell under the CRA jurisdiction

Right now the top 1% of wage earners pay 40% of the taxes, the top 5% pay 60% top 25% pay 87% of taxes and the top 50% pays 97%. The bottom 50% pay 3%, and you think the wealthy should pay more? Add in hidden taxes and you can see how oppressive it can become.

Lol. Your statements are contradictory. And you're right. That the top 1% does pay 40% of the taxes. But they own 90% of the wealth. Even a fair tax would see those who own 90% of the wealth paying 90% of the taxes. So who's really creating the class envy And while you include income tax, a progressive tax, in your statement about taxes, and say they're unfair you fail to realize that pay
