  • I remember going into a shop to buy this album and recommending it to a stranger standing beside me looking through the other cds.

  • I remember listening to "Rappers Delight" with Huge Grey Headphones on. I was like 8 or 9. Later I wrote all the the Lyrics of "the Message" by Melle Mel and Flash. When RUN DMC dropped it was curtains! I believe I can say what Hip Hop is and whats out today, definitively ISNT! This is Hip Hop and its rare today. By the way, Qweli sold out, thats why hes not so artistic these days.

  • @JesusWonAlready4Sure how did he sell out?

  • @JesusWonAlready4Sure dude, you say he sold out and shit but can't even spell his name?!

  • @DrivinMeWild09 Lol, correction Kweli. Wow such a great point you made, numbskull.

  • one the greatest songs ever written in music

  • Like thoughts out the back of your mind, going back in some time. Like when you used to cut and had to go to the back of the line. Look back, and you find tracks that make you relax and recline. Now cats rap about packin' the nine, when they lackin' divine inspiration.

  • Music from the soul! RESPECT!! Still listening to real hiphop...

  • Sampilng Soft Machine's Carol Ann from the 7 album!

  • Reflection Eternal Train of Thought is the best album Talib Kweli has made yet.

  • 2000 seasons is the best song by RE by far.

The beat... Hi-Tek knows how to spin that shit.

  • This is why I love RE. Tek's smooth instrumentals just hover in place while Kweli spits over them. They don't overshadow each other and go together perfectly.

  • my favorite song from my favorite MC

DOPE song from an album full of dope songs, one of the rare albums where you really don't need to skip a song from start to finish.

Talib is truly a thinking man's MC

  • The most beautiful hip hop song I've ever heard.

  • i love this.

can anyone tell me more underground songs that are like this?with a good beat good message and lyrics. thanks

  • @GetDown9I Jay Dee, J Dilla, illa J, Common, Slum Village, People Under the Stairs, The Roots, A Tribe Called Quest, Madlib........theres many more browse related vids

  • bringin back sweet memories...yes it does!!!

  • love this dude.

  • I've been listening to this CD since i was 16. 4 or 5 copies later... still love it.

& from my point of view, RPM's (their new lp) is just as dope.

  • @jcarter1789

Agreed. I'm actually being introduced to RE in reverse. I heard Revolutions Per Minute first and am now listening to Train Of Thought for the first time.

  • @Ginga thats cool as well. I just notice a lot of people saying that RPMs is not good compared to "Train Of Thought". I think they are both great albums in there own right. Happy that you have joined the club with us Reflection Eternal fans :-)

  • @jcarter1789

Thanks. Personally, I think RPM is the better album but there really isn't a right or wrong answer.

  • 5 Star Classic Album

  • wtf ic ant find this album on itunes ughh

  • @deimonhuntr1 It's on there, cause thats where i got it from. It's under Talib Kweli & Hi Tek. and the album is called Reflection Eternal

  • @lemondrop1523 the albums called" the train of thought"

  • @deimonhuntr1 of course not hoity toity ass itunes

  • lyric's on this track can't be touched?

  • BIG Tune... Sorta sad, but also uplifting..

  • this making think of the old days when a dude could chill and not get in to some bull $h!t

  • brings back sooo many memories! :')

  • Hi-teks soundin a little Dilla-esque on this beat...

  • sweet memories!!!

  • What Year Is This Album From?

  • @24Tellez From 2000

  • man what the hell happened to the music video?? i cant find it anywhere..

  • wow this is so deep. i got goosebumps when i heard him rap about his past

'like when my parents first split up, yo i was illin, seem like some years they were together for the sake of the children, and i love em for that; i dont knwo if they saw that - so ima say it and convey it!' i almost cried, not only because he and i went through the same regarding that- but because of the way he told this story

  • Heard the new reflection eternal album and it lacks so much soul and dopeness that this album had! This song alone beats the entire RPM album....

  • @SW4TR3PP1N Yip. In music sometimes its hard to recapture that magic again.

  • @SW4TR3PP1N

While I like this track, I strongly disagree it's better than all of RPM.

  • This track is so untouchable its ridiculous. I can remember being a young teen who listening to the radio to finding all of talibs music and being blown away. The amount of substance he puts in his lyrics is amazing, truely inspired me to become more intelligent, and I did. It was only a matter of time like centuries :)

  • wow bring bac sweet memories with this real hip hop voice. God bless you t. kweli.

  • this song got me through alot of hard times. thanx kweli and hi-tek for this.

  • Reflection Eternal, in my opinion, is the greatest hip hop album of album. Its funny because listening to this album still gives me chills like when i first heard it about a decade ago

  • This here mayne hold up!!

  • this is literally my fav album of all time

  • This song "brings back sweet memories" of when hip-hop lived!!

  • idk why, but this song takes me back to Pre-9/11...when everything seemed so peaceful, and im pretty sure this came out before it happened.

  • Love this song

  • Legendary...

  • TIMELESS HIP HOP, Talib is and will forever be one of the greatest

  • I got this album and blackstar at the same time about 2 years ago.... I never heard Talib or Mos b4hand, and damn i was blown away. Fuck haters this is ... TRUE HIP HOP

  • Dam time fly's I remember I use to bump this shit !!! back in the late 90's lol

  • Like thoughts out the back of your mind

    Going back in some time

Like when you used to cut and had to go to the back of the line

    Look back and you find

Tracks that make you relax and recline

Now cats rap about packing a nine

    When they lacking divine

    Inspiration

    wow.... incredible

  • Amazing song from an absolutely amazing album. Personally, I don't think that Talib ever topped this album since it was released almost a decade ago! His brilliance on tracks only amounts to brief glimpses, not the complete gems that were on this album. I'm still happy him and Mos Def blew up, because I remember being in high school in 1998 and recording the fortified live and blackstar tracks and playing it forpeople. They were like," who are they, they ain't on the radio?"...memories!

  • I agree with everything you said, its a shame that none of his albums never surpassed this one. But this is one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time.

  • @strictlyriddim well said

  • @strictlyriddim Couldn't have said it better myself.

  • @strictlyriddim i Dont agree. This album is amazing yes. but eardrum is by far his best. every song on that album is poetry.

  • @strictlyriddim Agreed!!

  • 31,974 hits a good artist gets this? and a sellout gets Millions of hits..LORD

  • It's a shame isn't it?

  • Hell ya!

  • i remember the 1st time i hearf KRS rockin it dan i reserrection by common sence...true hip hop essence!!!

  • Damn! What an amazing art form hip- hop used to be.

  • talib is the truth the way he spits his raps makes me really contemplative

  • @NWAIZDASHIT this is the best man word up

  • one of my all time favorite songs, i remember this song got me through rough times.

  • Hip hop is a culture. Meaning people who live the culture knows that its not about color of skin. Its more about how you flip things and express yourself in your songs, or beat boxing, or even graffiti.

  • @CalculatedMove No matter how many times i tell people this i still get dissed by these mainstream fans bout how this is "ghetto" music or even "nigger" music just because I am indian

  • @CalculatedMove or dancin ;D

  • @CalculatedMove Couldn't have put it better !!

  • BLACK - is a status not a Race! it's time for us to stop being BLACK!

  • Were not black, were not africans...We're planetarians

  • this is real hip hop to me too but i didnt realize u had to be black to express urself on the mic saniyamamii

  • Comment removed

  • this is considered to me real hip hop..

the beauty of a black poet

putting poetry into lyrics making it

    a beautiful song.. yes...

loving this.. i have the cd..

    this is my remedy...

    bringing back sweet memories..

  • Anyone got this on instrumental? been looking everywhere but no luck :(

  • you could just laid back to this and thing of all the good times in your life

    true hip hop right here!!!

  • hip-hop in its puriest form an absloute classic too bad you dont hear'em like this anymore

  • Only 25,000 views, that's a damn shame.

  • Especially when you realize that Soulja Boy probably has about 5 mil...

  • Actually sadly enough its 36 mil.

But u know what, us real hip hop listeners should've even recognize snap music dancing like that as rap...just call it pop or hip pop.

  • 36 mil...that's a hot mess...

    But what can you do...

Whatevs though, the people who listen to this know what real hip hop is...

Not just repeating the same 3 sentences over and over with a different beat...

  • I think its not really soulja boy's fault

soulja boy's music is for kids...nothing to be taken seriously (bubblegum rap)

it's really sad that they don't promote this kind of hip-hop!!!

  • had this album when i was 10 and my dad stole it from me and lost it...then tried to get it again and it wasnt in stores anymore...shit was a classic

  • Well that sure wasnt a sweet memory....hopefully you can cop the cd soon.

  • 4 me........this track is wen im chillin lookin at polaroids of wen i was a yout with my bois.....REMINSCING!

  • One of the dopest most meaningful tracks every.......damn there's not a soul that can't relate to this jam right here. Definition of hip hop right here! "no cats rap about packin the 9 when they lackin divine.....inspiration!"

  • Oh my goodness...thanks for tha post...I still rock this CD on tha regular!!!

  • the real music speaks for itself much love talib ...

  • hip hop is so soul fulling...i open my third eye and take a ride on my train of thought!!!

    HI-TECH and KWELITY

  • best song ever by Talib Kweli!

  • it doesnt get any better...this track is GREAT

  • Kweli is raw.

  • I love this song.

Not only do the lyrics rock, but the beat is awesome.

  • i freak with word power ma man speak with beats''

  • my 1.favorite song of the year 2000

  • reflection eternal is the band

train of thought is the album
