  • @calvincathal same thought haha, just happened to me today.

  • A very good tutorial, my NES is already in great condition but it doesn't hurt to take a look for some good useful tutorials for future reference! Thanks a bunch and keep up the good work.

  • Thank you for showing me how. It works better than it ever has since I found mine in a yard sale. :)

  • RE4!!!!!

  • Thanks for the video! My newly acquired NES and games work great now!!

  • There is no difference in pin connectors there is a difference in the chips on the board though

  • great video, i think it is what i have to do. RE4 <3

  • @hipodaf I just hope that there aren't that many differences on the EU NES compared to yours, but why would there?

  • btw, bigun89, when mounting back the console encasement (the black one) on the mainboard, theres a problem if the encasement does not really "slip" or "connect" well with the mainboard at the front below the encasement. I simply put that thing together and started screwing and realized that the console device didnt want to jump back when I pressed also the device at front was curved, almost damaged the plastic, lol. It just has to be slippin / connecting with the mainboard as well. Just sayin ^^

  • He,he,he.... thank you stranger

  • I take it you have the american version of the NES? I live in the UK so I have a PAL version. Im thinking of restoring it but I dont know if the insides will be the same as those featured on this video

  • Thank you sir. Your help made my NES just fly. And because i got my wife's favorite game working, i got marital "superhappyfuntimes" you rock sir.

  • It took me forever, but I finially fixed it. THANKS!

  • Do I hear Resident Evil 5 in the background hahaha. 1:30 - 1:36 someone is in inventory and picking up item. + 3:48 - 3:56 gun shots haha, great vid by the way

  • @mortalkombat190 That's actually resident evil 4

  • Do I hear Resident Evil 5 in the background hahaha. 1:30 - 1:36 someone is in inventory and picking up item.

  • Monthy Python reference!

  • @DChapful all the cool kids play NES

  • The shelding has 7 screws and the motherboard has 2 screws, well that was what I had

  • @border205 you have a PAL console perhaps?Mine is like this too and it's PAL...

  • @Kiarachu Yes I do have a PAL NES, an Australian version, but all PAL systems, e.g. UK, Europe are all the same.

  • @border205 maybe it's the difference between the two type of console.I have noticed too that NTSC NES controller don't play on a PAL console but if you use a PAL controller on a NTSC console it works perfectly.

I modify the plug in of the controller on my NES because I have a NTSC controller and now it works ^_^

I don't know why there are such difference in the two type of NES though...

  • who's playing RE4 lol

  • ho much do you have to push the pins up i don't want to push them up to much and mess up the connector

  • @bill842408

Don't worry about that, just give them a good tug.

  • @bigun89 how do you slide in that black thing over the connector, where the game is supposed to go in? I can't do the sliding move, altough i see the holes from the connector and the black thing over it, fitting just perfectly. Shouldn't i just screw it together?

  • i have a weird problem with my system when i got it 2 weeks ago it worked fine i cleaned the games cartridges and everything and it worked fine woke up today and poped in a game all i get is a green or grey screen and nothing more but if i put in mario bros it will work pefect but sometimes still freeze in mid game but if i but in ninja turtles it wokrs but it all glitch with the letters all scrambed and well just glitchy so do you have any idea whats could possible be wrong with it

  • @skidmetal20

Replace the connector with a new one. I'm guessing yours is beyond reconditioning.

  • @bigun89 ok i'm a novice at this so what connector is that and were can i buy it at

  • @skidmetal20

The 72-pin connector. It can be found at nintendorepairshop.

  • @bigun89 and that will garentee that my system will work correctly

  • @skidmetal20

Of course not. Your dealing with a system that has about 22 years of age on it. I'm only giving you my best guest. The only way you will get a guarantee is to purchase one that has been reconditioned by a company.

  • i have a nes that works but only if the cartidge is not pushed down

and i'm afraid it will mess up the catridge if i leave it up

  • @bill842408

    You won't.

However it does sound like the connector was put on upside-down.

  • great vid, but i had one problem...in some parts the camera angle was a little wierd and it was hard to see which side has to be up and stuff like that but besides that u fixed my nes ^.^

  • love both the videos did everything pictured and didnt even have a new 72 bit just reconditioned the old one and got the games working a lot faster im going to clean the games when i get that piece off the internet

  • thanbks dudes for this vid really help to fix problem

  • I tried it. It works for 3 or 4 clean games and the system starts blinking again. Do yourself a favor and buy a new 72-pin connector.

  • lol resident evil 4 in the back best game of the decade

  • would you recommend disabling your 10nes chip as well?

  • The lockout chip? That's one of my upcoming videos!

    ;)

  • Just orderd a new connector + the open cartridges tool. So a million thanks to you man! This will help me get my console going again :) I'm collecting back my gaming childhood :)

  • i need help

    i put the loading thing

and i cant push the cartridge down

    please help

  • Loosen the screws of the loader just a little then put your cartridge in. It will take some minor adjusting to make things fit right.

When you get the cartridge to go down, tighten the screws.

  • well will it come back after i tighten screws?

are you sure u cant make a video on how to fix that problem

    i would really apreciate it

  • Yes, loosen the screws and then shift around the loader. The cartridge isn't going down because the loader isn't aligned properly. It happened to me too. Once you got it aligned, tighten your screws.

  • are you sure you cant make a video on that specific problem

it wont only help me but a lot of other people

  • I may go back and make one yes, but I have some other things lined up.

Trust me, loosen those screws and use a game with the loader loosened. It will go back into place.

  • So here's the story, went by the local dump today and what did I find, a complete NES system, pads cables and all. The retro game freak in me came alive instantly.

Came home after work to test it, didn't work. Game loaded and all but there was like 10 vertical lines on the screen. Followed your instructions and cleaned the 72 pin connector with an abrasive polish and some alcohol. Put it all back together and the best news is: IT WORKED!!! Can not thank you enough Sir!

  • its i had a sister who got bitten by a moose, not cousin, the infection part wasnt even in the movie

  • Picky, picky ;)

  • Damn, that silver box thing next to the adaptor outlet looks new, mines all rusted lol :(

  • Can a noob do this to?? Because this looks very complicated! I am thinking that i damage my system is i do that...

  • The video is kinda made for noobs, just take your time and you'll do fine.

  • This is fantastic video - you're a great presenter with a soothing voice and made it easy!! Can't thank you enough.

  • Thanks, the compliments mean a lot guys!

  • OMFG!!!! thanx a lot!!! my NES is alive!!!! again!!!! i´m so freakin´happy, only prob is maybe i bent the pins too strong because it works only without pushing the cartridge down, but it works, guess i´ll repair that when i get a new 72 pin connector i´m sooo happy!! do more videos on some other consoles as well!!!

  • I bendet my Pins very strong. Is that a problem? Could they fuck up my games? I hear a scratching noise when i pull the game out of the nes.

  • I'm assuming you don't remember how your system sounded or felt when it was new. That super-tight fit and "scratching" noise is kinda what your after. Eventually it will wear in and not sound so bad.

  • I'm having a different issue I have a permanent grey screen what should I do? I tried moving the pins a bit up but no result..

  • Basic electronic trouble shooting.

Take it apart, and look for any components that may be bad. Look for swollen or leaking capacitors. Beyond that you may have a bad microchip, it's hard to tell without seeing. Does it do it with every game?

  • It does it with every game I tried the LED does not even blink when there is no game inserted into the cartridge slot just a grey screen all the time.

  • Good Tutorial And I Love Resident Evil 4

    Hehehe Thank You!

  • To lift the pins, I find that a safety pin bent at the tip works much better then a screwdriver.

    Nice video!

  • Exceptional videos.

Thanks for taking the time to make 'em, my NES thanks you.

  • OOOH... I was hoping for part 2.... riveting stuff... I pray for part 3!

  • Mature, I expected no less though.

  • is there a risk that you break a pin while bending them? What if they become bended instead of straight?

  • I've reconditioned the pin connector before, so I don't think you'll have an issue doing it. As long as you bend them straight up, they shouldn't become bended the wrong way, If so, it's pretty easy to rebend it.
