Great vid!! This helps a great deal. Just got some bangs and they are already getting in my eyes after a few weeks.  Didn't feel a need to spend more money when I could trim it myself.

Longer bangs can help cover up a larger forehead, but it really depends on your face shape. Do you happen to know what it is?

Sometimes when I get overly stressed, I cut too much off my bangs. The last time this happened, (they were way short), I was so embarrassed to go anywhere but had to go get groceries. When I did, three people came up to me to tell me they liked my bangs! Couldn't believe it.

The good thing about bangs is that they grow out fast. Next month, they'll be longer and you'll be less self conscious.

Just remember how much you cut off this time and be sure not to cut that much next time:o)

Everyone has messed up their bangs sweety. Sorry that happened though! Notice the name of the video though. How to 'Trim Bangs'. Always take less than you think you should when you are first starting out. Take your time. If you are 'under pressure', then wait. I cut my own bangs, one time last year... and they were soooo super short. (I was mad at my boyfriend...) I thought they looked really bad but I had a few people tell me how great they looked. Ya just never know!

just a few months ago I worked as a hair-model during an exibition of an Italian hair-styler (Egidio Borri) on how to trim bangs. It was kinda easy in words...And when I tried to trim the bangs he cut once more, it was not too bad. I'd like to explain, but I guess my English level doesn't allow me to be more precise in this short space, but...I'm gonna look at your site! I love doing things by myself!!(and I went to work as a hair model to save up some money..hair-stylist are too expensive!! :P)

Variety is the spice of life:o) I have messed my hair up lots of times learning to cut it myself. I worked in a busy salon for years cutting other peoples hair but thats different from doing your own hair. It takes some time to find out what works for you and what doesn't. If you never risk it though, you will never know if you can do it. Kudo's to you for trying!

Sorry sweety. I wished I was there to help you fix them! The instructions are simply guidelines. You must cut your own hair at your own risk. The good news is that hair grows quickly. I've cut my own bangs too short before, believe me. I thought they looked horrible but when I finally went out in public, several people commented on how good they looked? Crazy! In the meantime, pull your hair off your face and back or wear a headband.

Oops! I hate when that happens! Sorry you are having to go thru that! I have done the same thing though. (before I was a hairdresser:o) They'll grow back I promise. Did you cut them really short? As an average, hair grows about 1/2" a month. (some people are more, some are less..) Does that help? If you take extra Biotin, a B Vitamin, it'll grow faster. I am getting ready to cut my own bangs in a fringe very, very soon. I'll be showing you some other techniques too, so stay tuned.

What a hot chick! Wow. Never heard of her before! Betty's got a lot of bangs. The V shape for her bang cut looks like it starts farther back on her head, probably from the top of her ears, instead of in front of her ears. It is a very blunt cut (no fringe/straight across) and appears to fall mid forehead only because she curls them under at the roots to lift them. They were probably still cut using the bridge of the nose as a guide, then shortened by the lift from the curl. Help any?

Oh, no no! I mean the V shape you make on the top of your head to form bangs. In many of Betty's pics, she did have a slight V in the front tho. In other pics, she seemed to have a blunt cut instead. Which one do you want? (so glad you asked to clear up any confusion) (I might need to make a new vid). To make a v shaped bang, make the V on the top, (watch video) then start the bang cut slightly higher on the sides and slant downward into a point. (V again) Then do the same on the other side.

If they are side bangs, cut them either slanted or blunt. For a longer blunt cut, measure them so they fall on bone structure like the cheeks or the chin. If you want them slanted, choose where you want to begin them and just angle/blend them down your face. Pull your hair out (with your fingers) away from your face and cut straight down. (Same cut as my V-cut video) To create a bit of fringe, cut tiny V's into ends of the hair. Hope that helps~

Hey, thats great news. Generally, always use the bridge of your nose as a guide if you like bangs to fall just above your eyebrows. Make small V cuts into your bangs to create movement and fringe them a little if you don't want them to be in a straight line. Cut narrow V's when you cut higher into your bangs. Cut slightly wider V's when you make shorter cuts.

Pretty much yes. A sweeping style to me implies an angled cut to the bangs. (from shorter to longer) Its impossible to have shorter and longer on both sides at the same time. Know what I mean? If you mean something different, let me know:o)

Try using a one-bladed disposable razor. It works nicely for me. Just be careful, because they're sharp.

Since I'm working with the general public, I was afraid to suggest a razor of any kind. knowwhatimean? My shears, were made by a Japanese company who also makes Samari swords. They're razor sharp. In all the years I've owned them, not once have I ever had to sharpen them. Pretty cool huh?
