These are so motivational when you are doing a water fast yourself. I'm on a day 2 now and am not feeling horrible yet, although I was yesterday. I've tried doing a water fast before but I stopped at day 2 each time because I felt so bad... But now I think I can make it further.
I am suprised that you were feeling weak... although it's an ONLY water fast, so that could be a huge difference from mine. I am doing a 7 or a 10 Monastery Fasting twice a year but I do take the juice of cooked vegetables as lunch and dinner. I cook many veggies in the beginning, then through away the veggies and drink the juice. I feel ENERGIZED once I passed the 3rd or 4th day. After 7 days I am busting from energy. Interesting though! Thanx for sharing. :) xxx
@crispybacon100 great, i am preparing to do a water fast in the next few days. i havnt done a complete water fast in over 7 years. last week i did juice fast for 3.5 days in preparation for this week.
@ ciggarettesandietcoke This may be a bit late, but you should do a saltwater cleanse. take a quart of water(4cups) and add 2tsp of salt to the solution. Stir it up ALOT and then chug as much of the quart as you can. Try to take all of it in one go. When you are done you should feel it in your tummy. Rub your stomach, small intestine, liver and large intestine. This more likely then not give you a good bowel movement. Hope i helped!
@TheLegalAssassin well for a person with a FAST metabilism (not the best speller, so im srry if i spell that wrong) daily, they can burn up to 3-4 pounds. For somebody with a slow to regular, its usually 1-2.
So for a regular you can probably expect for a fast (depends on what type of fast, water is the most 'fastest' 'more weight losing' fast) you can expect to lose about 60ish pounds, but many do not do a fast that long. It's usually around 10 days for the beginers.
@TheLegalAssassin take your weight and divide it by 4, then subtract that by your weight. that's close to what you'll likely weigh if your doing a water only fast in 4 weeks.
@BytomGirl - I only did a 3 day fast, but somewhere between 24 and 48 hours in, if I got up fast from a sitting or lying position I would almost faint. If I got up slowly this wouldn't happen.
You survive off your bodies built up fat after the sugars in your body are used up. Fasting caused rapid weight loss and a sort of cleansing of the body.

How much weight could someone expect to lose in a 35- 40 day fast? I'm just curious.

I am on day 11 and when I get up my heart beets very fast but I suppose that is normal, did you experience the same?
After all we get no electrolites or carbs.

Yes, it happenes. Sugar is low in these first days and enegy is lower at ffirst.
I did total pf 22 days and gained back about 5. I got rid of the toxins from the bug spray that got me sick.

So you are surviving on water alone? No food at all?
