  • the best travel program ever... michael palin is the best.. he should have brought terry jones with him ;)

  • god I hope I can do a trip like this one day..

  • I'll never forget the last episode where he arrives back in London and, after experiencing nothing but friendship and kindness as he travelled the world , falls foul of a grumpy newspaper salesman, I think simply because he didn't have the "correct" money for a newspaper.....

I guess that says it all and I wish I could find that episode...:(

  • Michael Palin is the best! I have seen all of his travel series and each one has really inspired me.

  • "at the very last moment I remembered to bring my tie, you never know might come in useful...strangling muggers"

LOL Palin is so witty and funny, amazing guy!

  • I just read the book and it was great! I would love to see the show! I now want to go out and read about the rest of his adventures!

  • It's really one of the most awesome events that when Python broke up, they all started doing their little bit for society. I love Gilliam's wacky films, Jones historical documentaries, Palin's travel logs (not sure I can call it that,) Idle's books, and Cleese's cameo's on TV.

  • Without a shadow of a doubt, one of the best, if not THE BEST, travelprogramme ever made for television. The fact that it was a race against the clock, made it all the more interesting. But the way Michael Palin and his fellow culprits made us be part of this wonderful adventure, was truly a sheer delight. A once in a lifetime expe- rience that got me overexcited when I first saw this, way back in '89. And it still does. Indeed a rather remarkable fellow that Michael Palin. NI! NI!
  • @OEKIE77 You are 100% spot on

  • @OEKIE77 you are right, I also saw it in 89 and it inspired me..since then I have seen most of the cities that Michael visited....sometimes the reality is different from what you see on tv or read about.

  • @OEKIE77 - I absolutely agree. It is my favourite programme of all time. I watch it over and over again. I can only imagine what it was like when it first aired, when people couldn't see the world on TV as much as they can today. No internert as well.

  • Yeah BBC - you should be making programs like these. This programe made in 88 still beats the crap out of most of the rubbish you produce these days.

Get back to making programs like these.

  • I love Palin!

  • excellent excellent show!!

  • Michael Palin is so lucky making all those trips.

  • It's been ages since I've watched it. Did he make it in 80 days?

  • no he made it in 79 days if i remember correctly

  • Oh, that really puts me in a traveling mood. Takes me back to the days where my friend and I left Oslo, Norway to set out for Europe. We were 21 years old and full of anticipation and spirit. What a journey we had. How fantastic sights we saw. So many lovely people we met. I can only imagine what an experience it would be to do the same around the world,...(sighs)...

  • This was an amazing series. Cant wait for the post when they round the Arabian Penisula on a local boat. Thats an amazing episode.

  • Michael Palin is my favourite Python

  • Looks like a awsome thing to do but why has it taken 18 years to broadcast???

  • wtf!

  • great
