I fail to see how an infrared transmitter, which is all that a remote control really is, can suddenly become a microwave reciever - just by hooking up some kind of audio micrphone arrangement to it's power supply.

a remote only sends a signal that says up/down for channel ... it does not store the channel internally... also your not getting any info/voltage passed through by connecting +/- together then to the mic wire... this video is a prank... if you know nothing of electronics do not attempt the youtube hakz. learn the basics first (wikipedia is a good start)
