The requirements under Article II, Section I are simple and straightforward.

You must have attained the age of thirty-five. You must have been born in the United States OR a US Territory. BOTH parents must be American, not necessarily natural - native born, naturalized citizenship is wholly acceptable. But BOTH MUST BE IN POSSESSION of citizenship at the time of birth. When all three requirements - in toto - are in concert, you qualify.

For starters, Obama's father was a Kenyan national.

It matters! I've said this for over four years. I get the tragically demonized "birthers". They are the ones who are demonstrating respect and reverence toward the Constitution and our nation. For starters.
