Hey, Yeah I do tune it down from the standard tuning, I wish I could tell you what key, but I really don't know. I just tune it where the strings have just enough tension to be stout- but are still limber enough to play the notes. I use Medium Gauge strings though
Thanks for the kind words U said on this video, it bought tears to my eyes. This has started my day off right. I could set and listen to U Pick and Sing all night and never get tired of hearing U. MoJoPiano is my favorite Paino player and I could set and listen to him all night and never get tired. We are very good, close friends. Thanks again for the beautiful music and keep using your talent for God. U, surely have blessed me.
That was sweet Darlene and I do thank you. I am in agreement with you on Mike (Mojopiano), I could listen to his playing all day and all night! He is truly blessed and talented and he is an extremely sincere and nice guy. You know, it makes my day that people actually want to listen to this kind of music and just giving a little of myself to do that makes it all worthwhile! William- Troy,Alabama
Yes, MoJo is very blessed and a really, really nice guy and very sincere in everything that he does. I know he speaks very highly of U. He is my very, best, dear friend. I just want U to keep up the good work. I really have enjoyed listening to all of your videos. I have a neighbor man that sang the one about The Gold Watch and Chain. I always liked to hear him sang it. I hadn't heard it in a long time.
Thanks to you, I'm gettin' my guitar out and pickin' more.I play banjo in a band and just kinda put my guitar and autoharp aside....but I love them too and The Carter Family. I do a couple of their songs..Keep on the sunnyside and gold watch and chain and we play wildwood flower(instrumental) You do a great job...thanks..MJ
That's just about the nicest thing someone could say. I'm glad you like my videos, music is just something I love and I like to try and share it. I found your channel the other day and saw all the wonderful videos of the Stoneman Sisters and man, what a class act they are! Thank you for the wonderful words- Take Care- William
Hey Thanks a lot. I like to hear an instrument "speak" and Wildwood flower is one of those songs where you can really make it talk. I try to keep my fingers close together and it seems that you get that reverb effect. Take care- William
Thanks a lot Ginger. I ordered that guitar back in 98 and when I got it about 2 months later, it still had the shavings from where it had been made! So it was brand new. I feel like an instrument should have just as much personality as the performer. Have a good Sunday!- William
William, I have heard it said that "Wildwood Flower" is one of the most recognized tunes in the World. I'm not sure that is completely accurate, but I sure wouldn't doubt it one bit. Mike
I heard something to that effect once. I have read that it was Perry Como's first song on guitar and that is saying a lot about thier influence! Wildwood flower has a sound that is hard to get on other songs. I noticed after I watched the video that when I change from C to F you get that "feedback" and that's the sound I always loved! Thanks Mike
IT'S JUST NOT FAIR! I have two hands and ten fingers just like you! Why can't I do that??? Incredible job as always William. You picked the fire out of that "Gold Watch and Chain" which is my Dad's fave Carter Family Tune. He is going to love this un! You have excellent rhythm/timing/tempo William; and I KNOW rhythm. I was patting my foot in perfect time in my cradle they tell me! LOL! William, it is SPOOKY just how much you play and sound like Mama Maybelle! Thanks and God Bless Ya, Mike
LOL! I guess we can do a trade off sometime Mike, because I would love to be able to play those 88 keys like you do! Thank you for the comments buddy. I am glad that you brought up the timing aspect, because to tell the truth, I never knew if I was playing in correct time. I've tried to use a metronome but I guess I just had to listen and go by ear. You are one in a million Mike and I am truly grateful to have your friendship! Take Care- William
Thank you buddy! I'm seriously thinking about investing in a new Loar LH- 600 guitar. It has a louder tone. I would love to have a Gibson L-5 like she had, but those things are expensive lol! Take Care- William
do you tune your guitar differently like maybelle did.

Another great video. :) Your playing is AMAZING. You must be strumming after each and every note to get that kind of sound, which I find really hard.
