A wickedly funny spoof made with a lot of knowledge about and obvious love of the film - "A Matter of Life and Death (1946)" - aka "Stairway to Heaven" in the States
Graham Linehan and the cast said they don't like this sketch and it screened. I guess it's because the proposed demographic didn't get the reference. Glad to see some people agree that it's a great sketch/parody/tribute.
which episode is that?

Well I'm 19 and only saw the film it's based on by accident (sport finished late so schedule was mussed about).
I totally heart that film and thought this was quite a nice tribute.

I wasn`t aware of the film but still understood the cultural nuance and the genre it was parodying. whats the name of the origional film?

A matter of Life and Death. A fantastic film and this is a surprisingly sweet parody of the opening scene.
Also I'm 19 too, age shouldn't matter with classic films.

@leftfield1977 - A Matter of Life and Death. It's a war/romance/fantasy film.

I recall Big Train being on BBC2 as well.

The BBC/C4 confusion arises from Jam being on C4 with most of the same actors. Big Train was definitely on BBC2.

It was definitely aired on the BBC

Terrifying final frame freeze out, cheers You-Tube. All the same, full marks for spoofing my fave film in the world so brilliantly. Hurrah!

Any comedy sketch based on A Matter Of Life And Death immediately goes to the top of my humour pile. Nice one.
