I HAD no idea! I mean, I knew she has a great voice but I didn't realize she had hit songs and stuff. I grew up watching her on Touched By An Angel and always thought she was a great actress with a great voice. I guess seeing her on Match Game reruns from the 70's should have tipped me off, lol. I guess you do learn something new everyday. :)
great i saw della reese in 1958 appearing on the robert q. lewis show (radio) a live entertainment show i was 13 and that was my first experience being in a radio audience at cbs radio studio building. the arthur godfrey audience studio in manhattan. i never forgot that experience. it was like being in heaven. live orchestra, singers, etc. that was when usa radio was great but in trouble caused by tv. ROGHARM do't you know i love della and this posting. she was on disney ROGHARM raven
why dont we have singers these days, like in those days. rap heavy metal. ect will be long gone. 100 years from tonight these type of songs will be still playing. someplace. this good music makes me think of -john wayne frank sinatra, dean martin, lee marvin, the ames bros, what singers and what actors.if i go to heaven, i am goin to ask god to meet these people. its music like this that keeps me wanting to live.
answering your question---the public has been made ignorant of good music/singers and quality entertainment. i am 64 years old and know the difference. in the usa we have no good popular music. only rap.......or rat music. rnr junque. ROGHARM at least you have radio new zealand concert radio i hear on my computer
I WENT TO THE ROBERT Q> LEWIS RADIO SHOW at age 13 and the great della reese appeared on the show live from the cbs radio studio building 52 east 52 street manhattan. i grew up with these people am age 64. fortunate to see the great della reese in person for free from the studio arthur godfrey used. radio was great cbs radio caved in in 1960 when soap opera disappeared from radio. later cbs had a mystersy show and mutual radio had my true story. i had tv but RADIO was great.
i love her...people like her need to live forever! this is an angel singing to all! WOW, what a beautiful girl who has a beautiful way to express what so many feel inside! music like this makes me sad i did not grow up in the generation where stuff like this is what helps us carry-on. i can never be depressed with this stuff...ptsd or not, it puts me on a cloud i connot be bothered on!!i got to meet her and all i could do was thank her for her talent.
Absolutely incredible. Music like this is the definition of timeless. At age 14 with a whopping one listen to this song, I'm in love already. Five stars.
What a wonderful post !!! I'm a cynical old bastard but this one still brings a tear to my eye. A wonderful combination of voice, phrasing, melody, and a great lady.
Not to hog all of the glory from this video, but if you want to hear the song in full stereo and high quality, check out the video response I posted. :)
Oh My GOD how I love this song. Where can I find that video response? I have been singing that song around the house for YEARS just from being reminded of it from an album collection on TV. Della is OUTSTANDING!
Intruderart- It is because of people like Della Reese that I became interested in opera. I have loved this Puccini aria for longer than I care to say. She was a classic singer indeed.
I knew there had been a pop song that had been taken from Pucinni's La Boheme, AND I FOUND IT! Wonderful, thank you. Music memories never die! Thank God for You Tube.
Bad upload. Like, REAL BAD. Will look for another.
