Thanks, Karol. Well,I've got a little pole downtime here...with the house filled up with in-law cousins I cannot focus or concentrate. I had gotten CLOSE to getting that gemini to butterfly on the LEFT side also...but it's very sloppy and not the way I want it to be. I did have some luck with Fleur's suggestions on squaring off my shoulders, but there is a little unwanted "TURN." I can't experiment much with the cause of it, cuz my foot hits the bookshelf, then it stops anyway, LOL!
Joel you so crack me up! Don't ya just love the eye rolls from the kids. I live to embarrass my kids. I told them it's my mission in life. And that's why god gave us kids. But hey I still haven't rode my donkey to the school to pick them up with my overalls on. That's something isn't it? Your such a sweetie. I didn't realise this was some kind of special hoola hoop. Only ones I've seen are down at Walmart! Hey remember the lemon you jumped like a jump rope with the counters?
Oh...yeah...well, back in Cincinnati when my sister and I were kids we had a whole bunch of those weird toys...something like a bell and a hoop or something that you looped around one ankle...then you had to hop and skip over the rope or string while it spun around your leg. And we had real Jarts, too...the kind made out of STEEL, LOL! so heavy they would break a windshield. And that's exactly what happened and my grandma was VERY unhappy and I'm afraid our butts were very sore that night!!!
woah joel, you are amazing on the hoop. i started at my wednesday class with hoop for the first time and its really hard...you look so casual with it xx
Great job! You look so happy. And what a beautiful hoopspace you have. I foresee a lot of happy hooping there. I can give you a hint about your hoop angling down. It's because you're looking down. Notice how when you don't look down it doesn't do that. That's the key to hooping level or, by looking down, on a forward angle, or, by looking up, on a backward angle. To keep it level, though, keep your chin up. It will help with your walking. Good luck! I look forward to following your progress.
p.s. It was very sweet of you to make this and dedicate it to Stringdiving. I bet it made his day. It excited him enough that he told me about it. It was a sweet gift.
Thank You...I don't really understand much of the technique of hooping. I was experimenting...trying to figure out what makes the hoop do a certain thing or go a certain way. Thanks for the tips. I will try them next time!
wow I'm impressed you keep a steady pace and even have the angle hooping down. Just love it. Like I said I'll Have to try the pole thing, no dancing though
Thanks, Kelly...these are the heavy hoops. I can't find the thin tubing at Menards...they are sold out...so I'll check at the Farm store when I go downstate to visit my in-laws...
Please keep posting your progress and let us know where you are learning from. If that's a homemade hoop can you maybe post a tutorial for it the way you did for your pole?
Your back yard is giant!!! I bet you'll be using a bunch of hoops at once in no time!
LOL! Well, Laurie is really the hooper, not me. I was just goofing around. She can walk around and do turns. But she walloped herself in the neck yesterday and was a little hoop shy today. These are really just good for basic aerobic hooping...they are so heavy they can really hurt if they hit you in the wrong place! She did promise me she would appear in a hoop vid over the summer..as long as I take the posting down before school starts back up...so hopefully...soon!
No Way!!!!! Jnybeth and I just started hooping Friday!!!! I must say you are doing VERY well!!!! Did you make your own hoop or did you find one somewhere??? I looked all over Detroit Friday for one and ended up having to modify a small one for children - it works bot very well but for now I'm not sure what to do anyway!!!
:) I think hooping will be awesome for pole I could feel it in my core and even got a bruise!!! I love the posturing! I am so jelous you can stick your hands in!!! cont
LOL! I just said that to SHAZBOT..ha ha...I hadn't even seen yuour comment yet...'cuz I heard that Jnybeth had ordered some hoops on the internet or something. Now these are the THICKER 160 PSI with colored Duct tape. We made about 4 of them. One is REALLY tricked out with glitter and pink gift wrap ribbons for Laurie. These aren't so great for tricks...too heavy really. So when Menards gets the thinner stuff in, I might experiment with making some for trick work...
Omg Joel what a coincidencel!!! I was looking up hula hooping just last night and have big plans to make my own hoop and get reeeealllyyy good at it!!! You look like you were having a blast...and such a nice big lovely garden to hoop in, not like my sand pit out the back ha ha :P
I think Jnybeth...the poler here in nearby Midwest...is taking a hooping class, too. These are homemade with the thicker 160 PSI lawn tubing. A little TOO thick for trick work...but nice and heavy for just killing calories aerobically and wearing yourself out!
this is great you are so happy and having fun outside. I love it!
