Hey, there...

First of all I have to say: 'thank you so much for this try to make me less stupid'. BUT - I have a problem:

I want to have in one of the pages, which will be loaded from the libary, three buttons. They should give me a chance to get in a subcategory. How do I do this? The normal code from the main-page-timeline do not work. It would be great, when you can tell me, what I have to do, oder give me a link, where it is teached.

hi, I have 2 issues

1. when I click on page 2, it appears nicely, and then when I click on Home then on page 2 again. page 2 does not appear, it stuck on Home. however by clicking on Home while at the Home page, it fades out and in nicely

2. i uses the alpha fading transition, sometimes at fading-in, it just stuck at 50% alpha instead of fading in fully.

any idea? thank you so much!

I have been trying this out and I get two errors.

1119: Access of possibly undefined property mainmenu_mc through a reference with static type Function.

1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type Boolean to an unrelated type Number.

I am sure I have the code down just as shown in this tutorial and the instance is named mainmenu_mc but it is not working.

For the intro, I didn't make the load thing, it just goes straight into the website's intro, so I don't know if that will affect anything...

@astripes It wont affect anything. But just if someone goes to your site and if it has allot of content, than it might show them a empty page until that content loads and the load bar just tells them that the site is loading and lets them keep an eye when that loading will be finished.

So for some reason, at the first part, you show us how to create an intro, but when I try to make an intro to my website, it does not play. So I just made an intro on the main timeline which is wasting a lot of my timeline. An other problem that I'm having is that I did type in stop(); at the main page so the intro animation does not loop, and it was all fine until I start typing the code from this second part of the tutorial, I type that code in and for some reason, it starts looping.

and it also gives me an error that says: Symbol 'mainmenu', Layer 'as3', Frame 1, Line 6 1084: Syntax error: expecting rightparent before .1.

What does that mean?

if your adding your event listener you have to write were your button is... we made this VARIABLE in the coding...

var p1:page1 = new page1;

so if your button is in page1 and the button is called BTN1_btn then you use this code...

p1.BTN1_btn.addEventListener(M­ouseEvent.CLICK, btn1Click);

and the rest is pretty much the same...

i've put the coding of that button with all the other codes!

Thanks for the great tutorial!! I wonder how can you blend the page transitions. I'm primarily interested in the ALPHA transition and would like the new page to fade in over top of the old one. Ive tried the different options presented by the codehints in CS4/AS3 but haven't had and luck. Any ideas?...or am I just missing something already stated.

Although I do appreciate you putting these tutorials up for free! It was very confusing for me.A lot of errors ( I made my own assets)but followed your directions and code, everything worked until I applied the last 2 transitions. Then only the 1st page worked and the other 3 keeps freezing?

I made a site with this tutorial which was very helpful by the way. My tweens freezes though, and after looking for a solution on forums it seems that the way the script is built it collects "garbage". The solution recommended to me was tweenLite. I'm a noob in AS3 and I've tried to rewrite it but couldn't make it work.

first of all, sorry it took kinda long to respond, i was in upstate.

these are just a couple of suggestions but they might help. First of all you in the home page instead of having the scrollboxes with the recently added just put the last 5, it makes people want to see other pages and makes it a little less anoying. Also put the donate button in the top righht corner, most people look there right now its at the bottome left and is not very visible to many users, ill continue in the next reply

cool, but the only reason i asked is because i think develop php needs to be a little bit more user friendly, its more of a professional format, i personally dont mind but some beginners might have a hard time starting out

maybe, but Adam is redesigning develop php so maybe he will make it look more attractive for beginners. I personally think it is beginner friendly because of the yellow color. Most tutorial website use dark and pro color (black, dark blue, dark green)
